Le Binchotan

351 Wishlisted
Le Binchotan is a French-Japanese restaurant based on French techniques and the centuries-old practice of grilling using binchotan -- a rare and highly prized Japanese charcoal. Jeremmy Chiam, the Chef-Owner, brings to the table a seamless and sophisticated blend of French and Japanese product and technique, enriched with deep smoky ‘binchotan’ flavours and surprising touches. Uniquely for its market profile, the restaurant features an outstanding and carefully curated list of wines, sakes and cocktails for pairing. A warm and genuine all-Singapore team and accessible prices deliver sheer culinary seduction and heart, whatever the occasion. (Entrance via Gemmill Lane)

Mediocre - skip this and get the mushroom risotto instead!

We also got a couple of sumiyaki sticks at le binchotan and this is the wagyu sumiyaki stick ($16) - a little pricy as you can see but if you’re feeling like a baller it is pretty good 👅💦 it’s so juicy

This dish was highly recommended by a colleague - the Uni and Caviar (S$25). And I can see why - it has a smooth pudding-like texture and everything just blends so beautifully!!! And there at the top we have those tiny cavier pearls 😍😍😍👅👅👅💦💦💦

I’ve seen photos of this drool worthy Hokkien mee before but couldn’t quite understand why a French-Japanese tapas bar would serve Hokkien mee? But I finally know why!! As part of the supper series, Chef Jeremmy @jemm_cooks took on the local favourite Hokkien mee and it was umami and amazing beyond words. That sambal at the back also hit all the right spots. Our only gripe was that this plate was not enough for 2 gluttons like us! This humble Hokkien mee is seriously so good, I could eat two plates of this leh! ($35++ per pax for 4 courses) #jeremmyandfriends

That withering look with the chilling phrase of “do I look like I want to eat a burger?” killed all hopes.
Not too bad for a random restaurant choice - the beef for the main dish was way better than the signature binchotan.

Jeremmy has teamed up with 3 special friends to bring us some special supper dishes. Coming up on 9-11 May, you’ll get to taste Jeremmy’s famous Hokkien Mee and his 16h braised beef cheek in dumpling form, alongside @sameernoog ex-Fat Lulu #noburnnotaste platter and vegetable chips. The platter comprises previous Fat Lulu’s favourite, the Iberico Pork Sataytay; chicken wings, grilled slow and low; and Sam’s Phu Quoc Pork Ribs, inspired by the surprise obsession he developed after tasting the ribs at a street food stall in Vietnam. And chicken wings! Boy do I love a balanced diet of meats, seafood and some veggies!
