The easiest way to avoid the headache of choosing is to order both of your favourites. In my case, it happens every time I pay a visit here.
The dry version of their “mee pok” is a must because of the stall’s incomparable sambal chilli. I am so glad they cook the noodles al dente too.
Equally satisfying to me: their “kway teow” soup. Those slippery-soft rice noodles are served in a clear pork-based broth with crunchy beansprouts, minced meat, prawns and fish cake. Spammed with loads of fresh coriander and spring onions, it’s really tasty and proves a great foil to the spicy “mee pok”.
Finishing both bowls by myself can be a bit challenging so I always share the latter.

I grew up eating the “meepok tah” (dry version of the flat light yellow noodles) at this stall but once in a while, I am gripped with the unshakeable urge to slurp on their “kway teow tng” (rice noodles soup). So I order both 😆

With the typical teochew confidence, the owner told me proudly the secret to his success freshness of his ingredients. I totally agree. The $6 portion came with shrimp was firm and sweet and his chili was fiery with that perfect amount of kick. If you aren't a fan of spice, they also do a nonspicy ketchup version.

Located in a small coffee shop, expect about a 20 minute wait for happiness.

I finally tried the famous 132 Mee Pok of the east. Sad to say, it wasn't really my cup of tea. Lots of ingredients in this one bowl. The Chilli was fiery and it really stood out, but there was no harmony in this bowl.

Traditional teochew Meepok ($3/$4/$5). Not sure how many styles of meepok there are but growing up as a Siglap kid, I used to think that Siglap has the best meepok in Sg (Ah Lim Meepok [email protected] Tua Kong). Little did I know that long before Ah Lim was there, this was the original bomb. Originally situated at the former Siglap market, 132 meepok has moved a few times in Siglap area before finally settling down at its current premise in a humble coffeeshop at Marine Terrace (opp Ngee Ann Pri). The meepok chili is not for the chicken hearted. Chili infused with vinegar and sesame oil just tastes famazing! This style of meepok also comes with broiled prawns! Lastly the meepok noodles itself. I mean how can one claim to be the meepok king without having decent noodles? Let me tell you, fellow bro and sista burpplers... the meepok noodles is bloody Q like a trampoline!! Conclusion: Die Die Must Eat!

I literally grew up on the "meepok ta" from 132 Traditional Teochew Meepok. My memories of going to the defunct Siglap Market with my family when I was a kid to tuck into a bowl of this after my mum finished her marketing, are still vividly etched in my mind. Even back then, I insisted on having it with "hiam jeo jway jway" (or "plenty of chilli" in English). I guess I could already tell how special their chilli paste was (it is a closely-guarded secret recipe by the way). During their 40 years of business, this little stall has moved quite a few times (and spawned a few spin-offs of which I strongly feel, still can't hold a candle to the original). With each rediscovery of 132 Meepok's new location, I would breathe a huge sigh of relief of being able to continue to enjoy my favourite noodles once again.
Presently run by the founder's wife and one of their sons, the quality and taste remains the same but the queues are longer than ever. So I always get the biggest order at $5 whenever I'm there. And yes, still with "hiam jeo jway jway" :) #Hawkerpedia
