Enjoy dining without burning a hole in your pocket, no membership required
A coffee stand situated at the office building foyer of Fraser Tower, with a few of tables available for dine-in.
But I would see most people would drop by for takeaway coffee before heading to their office in the morning.
This place is opened by passionate barista using their own sourced coffee bean to blend for the coffee selections here.
Was fortunate enough to get a seat at 22 Grams cafe, which is usually packed due to its high quality desserts and cozy ambience.
Really enjoyable bing chilling which was pleasantly sweet and flavourful. The crepe was freshly made and remained crunchy even when mixed with the ice cream.
Grade: A
It seems that the Central Business District has no short of coffee bars ever since most of the safety management measures for COVID-19 has been lifted, and that activities around workplaces have gradually gone back to normal. While Frasers Tower has already seen the opening of Aroma Coffee’s second outlet within its premises (Aroma Coffee’s very first outpost is situated at Northpoint City), the office lobby has seen yet another coffee bar that has recently opened its doors. Being one of the newest coffee bars in the Central Business District, 22GRAMS is more of a coffee kiosk with a decently-sized seating area that is located conveniently before the gantries leading to the lift lobby of the office tower. Being bounded by a metallic frame that segregates the space allocated to it and the office lobby, expect 22GRAMS to be that sort of coffee bar that serves up light bites alongside specialty coffee — the food selection is pretty much being restricted to a tortilla wrap, as well as various bakes and pastries such as the Cinnamon Swirl and the Butter Croissant which seems to be sourced from suppliers. The beverage menu at 22GRAMS largely revolves around specialty coffee options — offering patrons with both filter and espresso-based options, they do offer two types of roasts here; one of a single origin, and one being a blend to allow patrons to try out the different flavour profiles of beans that they have to offer.
Wanting to go for a slightly smaller but stronger cuppa, we found ourselves going for the Piccolo — the folks at the counter had advised us that our cuppa was brewed using the house blend; the blend being roasted with a mix of beans from Brazil and Panama, and are of a premium grade. They have also warned us that it would be quite a strong cuppa to have for mid-afternoon drink; and sure it was — the Piccolo features quite a punchy and bold body with a roasty and earthy flavour profile and came with a fruity undertone. We also noted how well-executed the cuppa was as well; it came with quite a good proportion of milk — a stronger cuppa than what would have expected out of a Latte / Magic / Flat White, while the milk was also well-frothed providing the cuppa a really silky, smooth and creamy texture. Certainly one of the better cuppa which we have had thus far in the Central Business District.
There are really quite a number of coffee bars that are located in the Central Business District; not a bad thing considering how it is increasingly easier for office folks to make a coffee run within the vicinity of their workplace, though it does create a sort of dilemma at times on which establishment should one grab coffee from depending on their preferences for the day. Given how 22GRAMS have pulled out cuppa on the day of our visit, we were really impressed with how well-executed the Piccolo was — certainly showcased the skills of the barista here. The folks at 22GRAMS were also pretty knowledgeable in the coffee that they serve — able to confidently describe on the various type of beans that are in the hopper on the day of our visit, whilst making recommendations which blend to opt for based on the patron’s preferences. We also liked how the folks here were particularly friendly and went the extra mile; they were running a 1-for-1 promotion for their opening which we were happy to skip on, though the guy behind the counter did make a note on our receipt so that we could produce the receipt and claim the free cup in the future. With an emphasis placed on their service whilst being knowledgeable in their craft and executing it well, 22GRAMS is the spot to check out for coffee lovers working in the Central Business District!
