This place really doesn't have the best service. The young guy was gruff, rude, and the team was impatient when I asked a single question. I rarely comment about service as I'm usually all about the food, so hopefully everyone else had a better experience.

The food was pretty dang good though. Really reminds me of those hawker stalls with fierce uncles/aunties, where that actually signify the quality of the food lol. Pasta was cooked well, the crab bisque? was so full of seafood umami and well rounded too, with a nice tanginess and slight acidity. They use some kind of special alcohol, it's not the usual white wine,(btw that's what I asked about lol) contributing to the complexity in flavour. Generous amounts of seafood, all cooked well and fresh, esp the Meath tiger prawns and the soft squid. For someone who doesn't eat bivalves, I could actually eat the mussels in this as it wasn't fishy at all and somehow the flavours naturally melded with the strong seafood taste. The garlic on top added a lot of aroma and crunch too.

As mentioned by Russell, the interior of the bowl has a lot of nooks and crannies that's very difficult to get soup out of. Other than that can't think of any complaints w regards to the food :)

5 Senses Bistro has quietly updated & overhauled its menu since the last time I’ve been there. One of the new dishes on the menu is this White Seafood Crabmeat Pasta ($14.90++), which sees crab meat (duh), squid, shrimp & mussels stewing in a wonderful white seafood soup.

Apparently, 5 Senses takes the old adage that ‘you eat with your eyes first’ very seriously, as they serve this piquant pasta in a cute ceramic crab bowl. It is a little annoying to get all that brilliant broth out with all the tiny nooks inside the bowl, but there’s no denying that the presentation is bang-on beautiful.

5 Senses has always been a stellar soup maker even though they don’t specialise in soups, and their white seafood soup is utterly umami. It’s rich, briny, wondrously wholesome, and is undoubtedly hearty. The angel hair pasta is competently cooked to al dente perfection and absorbs that sapid soup well.

The seafood was pleasantly fresh, with the mussels tasting nice and clean and the crab with just a little hint of sweetness in it. The weird thing about squid is that it must be cooked just right, or it must be thoroughly overcooked in order to qualify as perfectly cooked squid. 5 Senses’ squid is definitely at the latter end, with the squid being soft and easy to bite into, with just a little bit of resistance and snap. The shrimp within ain’t much, but they’re fresh, slightly sweet & satisfyingly snappy.

Believe me folks, 5 Senses’ White Seafood Crabmeat Pasta is a tremendous treat for all 5 senses. No bullcrab here, only honest to goodness seafood soup.

Salmon was seared just right with a crispy skin and soft interior. Doesn’t have fishy smell as well and could eat on its own. I love the sides which came with it especially the baked potatoes. Lightly salted, crispy on the skin, soft on the inside.

This is a revisit for this restaurant. Tried the Semi Smoked chicken breast, aka bacon wrapped chicken breast and served with mashed potato & vegetables. Chicken breast meat is moist & tender along smoky bacon on the outer layer, It is the perfect combination!

Salmon is seared to perfection. Salmon skin is crispy with soft textured meat. The mashed potato and vegetables are equally as tasty. Overall, the dish is well seasoned and appetising. Pocket friendly & good food quality ! Will revisit again!
