My favourite tang yuan stall in Singapore - Ah Balling Tangyuan! They also have a stall at One Punggol Hawker Centre!
I love that the tangyuan flavours can be picked ball by ball! Got 2 yam, 2 peanut and 1 matcha tangyuan with peanut ball soup!
Assorted 6 pcs so chose 2 red bean, 2 taro, 1 black sesame & 1 matcha. Matcha one tastes like those in mooncake filling that's mixed with lotus paste. Taro is pure & lightly sweetened. Red bean & black sesame is classic flavours🙌🏻 Almond soup is nutty & sweet!
Probably the most well known purveyor of this traditional dessert, serving for over 70 years. Now run by the 3rd-gen owners, with 3 outlets across Singapore.
.
Named for the year the stall opened (1975) in Golden Mile Food Centre, they're known for a wide range of glutinous rice ball flavours (5 flavours), and different types of soup base (4 varieties).
.
The soup bases are all handmade, served warm. I used to go for the signature peanut soup in the past, with its grainy peanut bits and nutty sweet flavour.
.
Lately, I prefer the herbal sweet spice notes of the ginger soup instead, soothing and subtle, warming the soul.
.
Their glutinous rice balls have a consistent soft sticky chew with a medium thickness.
.
The black sesame paste is like gritty lava, smooth with earthy nutty sweet flavour, a personal favourite. The peanut paste is grainy chunky with nutty sweet notes, coming in close.
.
The yam / taro paste is creamy thick in texture, with mild earthy sweet flavour that might be too light. The red bean paste has a thick sticky texture with earthy sweet notes, nice.

4pcs peanut filling tang yuan with ginger soup @ $2.30
Very nice dessert for a cooling weather. The taste of the ginger in the soup is perfect, can taste it but it's not overpowering.
The texture of the tangyuan is also great, chewy exterior and when bitten, the peanut filling fills the mouth immediately.
Will be back to try other soup base (options: peanut, almond milk, longan and dates) next time!
Almond Soup (5pcs assorted)
The almond taste was rather weak. More like milk.
Longan Red Date Soup (5pcs sesame)
S$2.70 per bowl
75 花生湯圓 Ah Balling Peanut Soup
While the stall is most famous for their peanut soup, I do get their ginger soup sometimes as the peanut soup can be a little too filling, especially if you have had other nice things to eat at Golden Mile! However, the ginger soup can be pretty inconsistent, and it can taste overly strong if you are served soup from the bottom of the pot.
Went for 2 yam tangyuan and 2 green tea tangyuan as these two flavours are not found in most shops. Personally preferred the yam as it contained yam filling with a pretty noticeable taste of yam!
