we tried a spread of their dishes but i'll zoom in on our favourite here (we even ordered seconds!):

a comforting dish i'd reach out to. i don't usually rate dishes but if i did, i'd give this a 5/5. in a single mouth, you'll taste the fragrance of the scallion oil, paired with soft tender chicken pieces with no gamey taste. this was also our favourite (and that's 5 of us) out of all the dishes we had.

simple, fuss-free side dish that i'd gladly snack on while putting on some shows. interestingly, i don't remember having it with any dips in taiwan but i must say, it was a pleasant addition. it was tangy yet sweet, and i found myself reaching out for it with each mouth of pancake.

a pork floss lover will love this. generously packed with floss rolled in a thin crepe egg layer and drizzled with sweet sauce, this was easily the snack we reached out to when it was served. this was also my favourite breakfast when i was in taiwan so it definitely brought back fond memories.

Named after one of the mandopop starโ€™s albums, @8degreesatsg is the perfect place to prepare for the show by listening to his catchy songs while gobbling up authentic Taiwanese dishes at affordable prices ๐Ÿ˜

We visited the Jalan Besar branch for late lunch on the weekend - the place was buzzing with lots of takeaway orders ๐Ÿฅก Luckily we got a table immediately and food was served quite promptly

My go-to Taiwanese comfort food is always good old lu rou fan (pork belly rice) and this signature dish certainly did not disappoint. The portion size was just right while the savoury braised meat bursted with flavour.

The chewy noodles topped with cucumber slices were slurp-worthy too despite the garlic flavour being a tad bit overwhelming.

Both beverages were above average, but we would recommend choosing 0% sweetness as the boba itself is quite sweet already.

๐Ÿต Jasmine Green Tea w Pearl ($3.60 / $5.10)
These pearls are SO GOOD. Chewy and soft and not tough at all, I'd suck these balls all day fr. I couldnt really taste the jasmine element but this was hella refreshing.

๐Ÿฏ Honey Green Milk Tea w Pearl ($4.90 / $6.90)
I found that this tasted almost identical to the jasmine version, just that it was a tad bit sweeter. Similarly really refreshing!

๐Ÿฅ› Grass Jelly Milk Tea ($4.90 / $6.90)
The grass jelly is suuuuper soft with a texture that I can't describe. It gives the entire drink a bit more of a herbal taste without overpowering it. My bubble tea connoisseur friend thought that the fragrance of the tea could have been stronger, but generally a really nice cup of milk tea.

๐Ÿ— Salted Chicken ($7++)
This was a little on the drier side as the batter did not coat the entire chicken chunks, hence it was slightly chewier. The chicken was salted well though, it was flavourful and crispy.
