Hidden in the neighbourhood of Hougang Green, you find this super long queue early morning at this food court.

Everyone patiently waiting for their turn to the front of this stall. This is where you could get their signature prawn noodle and lor mee.

Since their signage mentioned about the famous prawn mee, so I would go with it as well.

The taste was balanced as you mixed them together. Even the smaller portion already come with sufficient amount of meat and prawn.

Hidden in a humble kopitiam in Hougang is this stall that sells some darn good hokkien mee ($4/5) at night. You know its good when there's a huge queue for the beautiful plate of slurp-worthy goodness. The broth used is very thick and flavourful, and ingredients are very fresh. It's interesting how they use some kind of braised meat as well! This is one shiok meal but I must warn you, the Hawker does not really adhere to his opening hours so you will be lucky if you are able to catch him 🤣

This is one of my fav prawn noodle places because they’re so generous with the ingredients for the price. The prawns are sweet and the cut of pork that they use is really tender! (My mum says it is pork shoulder.) The seasoning for the noodles is addictively tasty and slightly peppery. The soup on the other hand probably has a ton of pepper inside because it tastes way too peppery for my liking, but my little brother still likes it so it’s probably a matter of preference. This place is famous for their lor mee too, which I love as well, but they sell out really early!

Lor Mee ($4.00) includes 2 pieces of fried fish fillet and a few slices of braised meat. I added on with an extra touch of vinegar. Its one of best selling bowl at the stall. During lunchtime (12 p.m. to 1 p.m.), the queue for the stall will be formed. The food will be usually sold out by 1.30pm, so it is better to head there for late breakfast or early lunch.

Tried these prawn noodles near Hougang Street 51, Blk 556 called 传统著名虾面. Despite their name, their prawn noodles are very much average. Their prawns are plump and quite fresh compared to other prawn noodles, but the noodles were sadly a bit slimy, probably because they don’t have enough oil coating them. My favourite prawn noodles still do better.

I’d say go for the lor mee instead, which seems like the more popular choice amongst their customers as well. I like that their sauce is sufficiently tangy and not too thick. Their ingredients are also pretty good - I particularly liked the fried fish with not too much batter coating it (which sold out shortly after we came at 12.20pm!)

Loving the Lor Mee ($3.50) here (though the snaking queues can be a turn off). Each strand of noodle is coated with aromatic starchy lor sauce and each bowl comes with generous condiments. I would spike my bowl with a tad of vinegar, chopped garlic and parsley for the additional kick.
