You can see from the long queue - this stall is definitely worth trying.
The essence of the coconut milk and hae bee had been imbued into the soup. The resulting fragrance of the creamy soup was further complemented by a nice sweetness, plus an enjoyable hint of spice.
Overall, it is a lighter bowl but still flavourful; it's a nicely done bowl that doesn't get jelak.

This is another must try when you’re in Yishun, the famous 928 laksa. The broth was tasty and thick, with a generous amount of ingredients too; be sure to add the chilli for an extra kick in the spice department. Plus it is so cheap, you can hardly find a bowl of laksa for $2.80 anymore these days.

PRICE: $2.80/3.30

I used to think that this is the best laksa only in Yishun. And it's really famous in Yishun. But over time, this grew on me so much that I'll pick this over the others as well.
The coconut milk fragrance may not be super strong, but it is noticeably sweet, pleasant, and comforting. The hae bee taste was also distinctive without being overly salty. This results in a fragrant gravy that is smooth and fluid, easy to down the throat, good for a less guilty indulgence.
There's a bonus in the chili that was full of hae bee (dried shrimps), and you must eat it on its own to appreciate it fully.
If you prefer your gravy to be stronger in coconut milk, then this may not be good enough for you. But it's definitely the best laksa in the North.

A hearty bowl of laksa that comes with half an egg, fish cakes, taupok, crabmeat, bean sprouts and ‘hum’. Chilli at the counter that is self-service that gives it the extra spiciness oomph! A semi-thick broth that is not as oily and a nice lemak taste to it as well.

Rating: 4/5

At just $2.80 a bowl, this laksa is so value for money and the rich, thick broth is so heartwarming. The ingredients here are simpler here with tofu and eggs, don’t expect your typical prawns etc; but the laksa is very comforting and flavourful. Chilli can be added by yourself at the counter; I like my laksa spicy so I usually go for almost two servings of chilli. A go to whenever I’m in the area. Don’t forget to try the popiah next door and the iced desserts which are cheap and good too.
