Can't wait to share with you my dinner last Saturday at Keyaki, Pan Pacific Singapore, which has just started serving their Spring Kaiseki Menu. There's a Haru Kaiseki at $180++ and a Sakura Kaiseki at $200++.
🔸
Exclusive to the Sakura Menu is the Hassun, which represents the current season in a kaiseki meal. All these little but exquisite dishes were Keyaki's Executive Chef Shin's elaborate expression of spring, including:
* Takenoko (bamboo shoot) with Japanese pepper leaf;
* Deep-fried minced crab (those little colorful balls);
* Boiled broad beans;
* Grilled hamaguri clam with sour plum jelly fish;
* Soy sauce hotaru-ika; and
* Grilled mebaru (rockfish).
🔸
I think this dish alone is the reason why I prefer the Sakura Kaiseki ($200++) over the Haru Kaiseki ($180++). But there were some really good dishes in the Haru Kaiseki as well. I'll share that soon.

Breakfast / 26 May 2018: crispy pork belly and scallops was wonderfully decadent and amazingly yummy for breakfast

Oh yeah, it's my turn to be a slut for Eggslut. The American egg sandwich shoppe has finally hit our shores, opening it's first branch at Scotts Square to snaking queues. Y'all folks can't get enough of new food trends eh. (Myself included.) It actually reminds me of Shake Shack when they first opened over here - the queues, the hype, it's all too similar I tell ya!

Being egg specialists, @eggslutsg
offers up egg sandwiches and more! Scrambled, baked, overeasy, you name it. My friends decided to head down on a Saturday afternoon and while there was a queue, it took around 30 minutes to get a seat. (Which is kinda fast.) Well, we decided to get:

◾Fairfax Sandwich + Bacon [$15]
The OG Eggslut sandwich with buttery soft scrambled eggs is none other than the Fairfax. You just have to get this when you're at the slut. And of course, bacon is not necessary but definitely a much need salty and meaty addition to round off the sandwich that's topped with chives, onions, cheddar cheese and sriracha mayo

◾Sausage, Egg & Cheese [$12]
Reminding me of a fancier version of McDonald's Sausage McMuffin, this version from Eggslut was superb as well. The house-made chicken sausage was *chef kiss* and the brioche bun was everything the McMuffin ain't.

◾Cheeseburger [$13.5]
Sadly, the Gaucho wasn't available during our visit. (Why God why.) Hence my friends and I settled for the Cheeseburger as we're all carnivores and needed a lil' meat. Unfortunately, while a good sandwich in its own right, it didn't really impress and was kinda forgettable. It was very similar to the Sausage sandwich - which I found more flavourful cos of the sausage patty. So get that instead I would say if you're deciding between the two.

All in all, I'm glad I got to try Eggslut and be a slut myself. Their egg sandwiches are a pretty solid entry into the local market and the price ain't as bad as - *glances at Shake Shack*. I'll definitely head back to try the Gaucho, but only if there ain't no queues. I'm sure the hype will end sooner or later, just like - *glances at Shake Shack again*.

This Halloumi & Squash ($16) number comes with sweet pickled beets, collard greens, almond flakes, and a nutty burnt butter dressing. Sounds fabulous, but unfortunately the seasonings were a wee off and it turned out a little meh. The squash for one, though well roasted, was completely unseasoned. Would’ve been fine if the burnt butter dressing had a touch of salt, but there was also way much of that sweet pickling juice added in which tipped the whole salad onto the sweeter side without good balance. They were also too heavy-handed with the dressing, leaving me eating basically greasy vegetables sitting in melted butter. The biggest disappointment however has to be the halloumi: the semi-hard cheese was fried to the point of being just crazy tough. Honestly if they’d just refine each component and pay a little more attention, this could be a fabulous salad.

The cocktail "Old Fashioned" is strong, smoky, and not sweet,tick all my requirements for cocktails.
The bespoke shots were light and refreshing.
The service is amazing and friendly staff 😊.
Am I Old Fashioned? YES 😜
Thank you @paulynnlow for the treats 💗.

Fab cocktails & good vibes @ 28HK ST 🍸 I’ll be back!
Loved the Escape to Oaxaca 🥂

Great for dates ;)

The snap and crackle of the spicy anchovy crumbs turned the low-key quiet of the coiled squid ink fusilli into a full-blown party-in-the-mouth. Credit for the intense flavours in this must also be shared with the lumps of crab meat and the uni that seemed to have melted to become one with the sauce.
If you are sharing the pastas here, and I recommend you do, ask for this Nero Fusilli to be served last as it has a stronger taste profile and you will want to properly savour the lighter tasting ones first.

Still remembered making the visit to Momolato back then when they were still a kiosk at Singapore Management University (they operated from the space that is now run by Hong Seng Curry Rice) — they had subsequently went into online operations, but had recently moved into a brand new space within a shophouse at Haji Lane.

While Momolato was still a relatively simple gelato parlour back then, they had since grown their business and is now halal-friendly whilst also offering keto-friendly gelato — a relatively fresh concept even to this day; patrons at their physical shop space will also be glad to know that they do serve up waffles, croffles (with flavours such as Banana, or Gula Melaka even), as well as popsicles and seasonal plated desserts apart from the scoops of gelato in either cups or cones.

The Pandan Waffle is relatively decent; does come with a slight hint of Pandan fragrance with its batter coming with a green hue in the interior, but the waffle does come off a little dry and clumpy somewhat. Thankfully, each order of the waffle comes with Vanilla Chantilly Cream and a house-made sauce by the side (seemingly a mix of condensed milk(?) and Gula Melaka(?)) — the latter of which being pretty unique with its mellow, yet rich sweetness — paired up with the waffles and even the Banana Croffles perfectly. The Pure Coconut Gelato, also a flavour which is keto-friendly, was pretty smooth, creamy and hints of a whiff of the fruit — not particularly sweet considering the keto-friendly flavours at Momolato are sweetened with natural sweeteners, and almost akin to having the flesh of the fruit itself.

Whilst being a relatively simple establishment in the past, Momolato has since grown over the years during the period where they have ceased physical retail operations — and they are back being more than what they were. Dine-in space at Momolato is rather limited; mostly within the confines of the space in front of the counter that comes with two tables are meant for 4 pax each, and counter seating by the wall though there are also three al-fresco seats at the street itself — do expect a short waiting time for seats here.

A must order dish when you visit PIPES is the Honey Toast! Creamy soft serve paired with a warm chewy shokupan. The insides of the shokupan were stretchy and honeyed. There was a drizzling of tarty berry jam too which went so well with the creamy ice cream. 😍 haha also bought some puddings to indulge in at home ☺️

Friendly and attentive staff made levelled-up the whole dining experience. Well deserved 🌟 for Kimura-san and staff!

This was the jiggliest warabi mochi I’ve ever had😂 but what stood out for me was that GIGANTIC ball of red bean! It’s chunky & slightly sweetened, complementing the cup’s other smoother components.

Even though I would have preferred more bitterness, this still satisfied my matcha cravings 🍵

I was lucky to secure a booking about 2-3 weeks prior. They open their bookings on the first day of the month before. It’s a 3-men team hence please be patient with replies. Only the $98 menu is available for dinner. Pretty affordable for Omakase style, chef Roy is amicable and engages in friendly banter.

Fish is good but nothing that really surprises me. My favourite sushi was the chutoro with soya sauce foam. But my favourite dish was the don at the end (pictured). So so good, I wished it was bigger. The crab temaki was pretty good too. Could do with more positive surprises but for the price nothing much to complain.

We also got a 300ml bottle of dassai 39 for $65 which was reasonable. Overall an enjoyable meal to celebrate my companion’s 30th.
