A bit too late to the party but does anybody remember this bizarre thing created by myBurgerlab? I personally think they’re really not that weird! Milo-coated chicken strips with budu sauce clearly sounds weird, but it really isn’t. At least, I don’t think so. I thought the strips on its own was weird as it was sweet, but it turned out okay when dipped in the budu sauce. It somehow complemented each other. I swear, only myBurgerlab can do this weird thing. I wish I could get it again, but I guess it was seasonal/one time thing.

I personally can’t take rendang be it chicken or beef or lamb, anything rendang really. I decided to disregard that and ordered this anyway. I instantly did not regret! I loved how the charcoal buns complemented the sunny side up and peanut butter and sambal and ikan bilis.. not forgetting the glorious fried chicken patty! I’m in love. I’m glad it’s now in the permanent menu so I can get it anytime. Also, it’s still the only rendang thing I’ll ever eat 🤣

It was a cake sufficient for 2-3 people. I shared with one friend and we struggled a little to finish it towards the end. We were both in our boba craze then so we knew we had to try it out. I personally thought the boba could be softer, and I loved the earl grey cake on its own - without the cream cheese or boba. The earl grey cake was soft, just as I expected to be. I ended up eating just the cake on its own.

If earlier I talked about murtabak, now it’s time for the Indonesian version of apam balik: martabak. Tetangga Kita over at Hartamas Shopping Centre (opening in Paradigm Mall in January 2020, stay tuned!) has both thin and thick ones, and both sweet and savoury ones. I’ve yet to try the savoury ones though, will do when it opens in Paradigm Mall. I generally love red velvet so this was a hit with me. It also had bits of Oreo so I was even happier. Will I buy more? Definitely. It’s as authentic as authentic can get as I believe the owner is an Indonesian. Can’t wait for it to open in Paradigm Mall 😋

My favourite kind of murtabak would be beef murtabak, and especially Singapore style where you get the minced beef inside and on top of it. What’s even better? With cheese, of course! This is a famous place in JB. Everybody knows this over at Kampung Kurnia. I’ve been wanting to try this for years and I finally managed to do so in 2018. You could pull the cheese long and I personally felt that it was satisfying. Will I come back? Definitely, without a doubt.

Speaking of no more normal pancakes from my previous post, I clearly lied. We walked around Shibuya (or was it Harajuku? I forgot) and managed to find this cafe. There was a line, so we had to wait. Once we were seated, we immediately ordered this. Waited quite a bit and it arrived. Not as amazing looking as the soufflé pancakes we had back in Fleur Kyoto, but this is still good. Very fattening and unhealthy, if I may add. Look at the amount of whipped cream, it’s like Mount Fuji on its own alright. There was also a scoop of vanilla ice cream by the side if I remember correctly. We took the sour toppings (pineapple and stuff) so that it balances out the sweetness. Will we queue again for this? Yes.

P/S: I saw it in Singapore a week after I came back. I was so tempted to go..

You didn’t really go to Japan if you didn’t try their soufflé pancakes, it’s so good! Fleur wasn’t too far from the Kyoto station (it’s a huge station!), assuming you got out from the correct exit (I don’t remember which anymore). Google is helpful in getting us there, so you can try the same. We managed to get seats almost immediately upon entering, but once seated and ordered, we were told that our pancakes would take approximately about 45 minutes to be ready. About an hour later, it arrived. It was so soft and fluffy and everything you’ve ever dreamed of in a pancake, and I almost didn’t want to eat the normal type anymore (more on this later). I would say it was worth the 45 minutes. We’d come back but we didn’t have enough time then. *makes mental note to revisit if ever in Kyoto again*

I cannot for the life of me remember what the name of this quaint little eatery was, but it was located near the Namba-Osaka non-JR line station, that much I can confirm. It was my first ever meal in the Land of the Rising Sun, and it was also reasonably priced at just ¥ 170. It was hot and just nice given the cold weather, and it tasted good. The broth was nice, the udon was chewy.. the tempura was good too. I loved everything about this bowl of udon 😍

Q Bistro recently (recent at that time, November 2018) opened near my house so naturally my dad wanted to try it out. I heard the nasi lemak was good so I had to try, and I did, and I had the same thinking. It was good! To be fair, I believe it was the chicken, but still. I’ve had the chicken on other occasions but it wasn’t much to shout about. For some reasons, it just blended super well with the nasi lemak, and just the nasi lemak. It was a little spicy for me but I have gotten this plate a few times already, so I still like it even if it’s spicy.

Been wanting to try out the rice balls for a while and finally managed to do so. The rice balls looked so harmless but really, don’t over-order it. I think the shop only let you order once and no add-ons, so we really had to decide what exactly we wanted and thankfully, we did it right 😅 to be honest, I would come back for this. I loved it enough to want to come back.

Almost everybody I know who visited Malacca definitely visited this cafe at some point. Naturally, we just had to do the same. These Pandan pancakes were priced at RM 13.90 for 5 pieces, served with some syrup and we added on vanilla ice cream for RM 3.50. I thought the pancakes on its own were a bit on the dry side which I didn’t like, but with the vanilla ice cream it’s a little better. Would I come back? Maybe.

Went on a road trip sometime in October 2018 (yes that’s last year, I’m still trying to catch up on my posts) and I ended up here. I shared a bowl of nyonya asam laksa (RM 8) and Baba Chendol (RM 4) with two of my friends. It was a good combination because one was savoury and one was sweet, so it didn’t feel overwhelming to us (me). There was a mini queue when I was there, so I had nothing to complain about the crowd. I probably wouldn’t crave it, but if I’m ever in the area and there is no crowd, I might come back.
