White Chocolate Nori, Hainanese Kaya Pretty glad that Tom’s Palette has recently re-opened their doors over the previous weekend that had passed; now located just a stone’s throw away from their Shaw Towers space at 51 Middle Road — also pretty near the National Library, Bugis Junction and South Beach Towers. Launching the various items in several phases, the first weekend saw the ice-cream available in cups — went for the trusty White Chocolate Nori and the Hainanese Kaya flavours; the latter being an exceptionally quirky flavour that I absolutely loved when I first tried it a couple of years ago. As strange a combination it sounds, it’s that weird combination of sweet and umami flavours that gets to me — smooth and creamy, whilst carrying a note of milk chocolate sweetness that’s spiked with a savoury note typical of seaweed sheets, I like how there are bits of nuts and browned white chocolate chunks that add texture and sweetness to the ice-cream; a very interesting flavour that rewards those who are adventurous enough to go for it. The Hainanese Kaya flavour comes in a green hue — aesthetically more Nonya Kaya than Hainanese Kaya; nothing too intimidating here, with a very light hint of coconut-y flavour without being overly sweet not heavy, though definitely leaning closer to that of Nonya Kaya in terms of flavour. Congratulations to the folks behind Tom’s Palette on their reopening — liking that new space that they have that is brighter and somewhat more inviting; and definitely glad that they had not moved too far away from the area and still remain a pretty accessible for that ice-cream fix!

Small Cup - Valrhona Chocolate & Summerberries [$4] My fav ice cream spot is back!!! They’ve moved into a brand new space and will be launching their menu (think waffles, teaffogato, parfaits, etc.) gradually over the next few weeks. Had the valrhona chocolate and summerberries this time. It was a fab combi that’s like having a piece of dark choc with raspberry filling! Can’t wait to come back and try their teaffogato.

Truffle Pesto Gnocchi Amazing food and amazing service!! On top of the truffle pesto gnocchi (20.90) we ordered sweet potato fries (6.90), iced mocha (6.50) and iced white (5.60). Seriously, everything was good. The coffee was great, sweet potato fries were crispy on the outside, soft on the inside (and they remained that way even tho we left it out for a while). I've never had gnocchi nor pesto before so idk what the standards are BUT this was really enjoyable. Great flavour, could taste the truffle throughout but it wasn't overbearing. The sauce might be a lil salty towards the end but it's fine if you don't lick the entire plate clean ykwim. Take note that they have different menus for breakfast, lunch and dinner! Overall, this place is really nice and I'll defo go back to try their other dishes. Wouldn't mind going back even without burpple beyond!

Mediocre Foods But Good Service Order salmon bowl, breakfast toast, sides and yoghurt bowl Everything was just average Too much yogurt, very cloying, should added more granola/ fruits to balance it. Would not drop by if not for burrple 1 for 1. Coffee was better compared to foods served.

Best meals I've had in Singapore! Meals just like being in Oz I recently moved to Singapore from Australia and what attracted to trying this place out was their sign of Australian Artisan coffee roaster and I do miss the comfort of food from home. I ordered soy cappuccino and it was ok but definitely the best coffee I've had so far. It was not too milky and had a coffee taste. Then so I felt like I had to try their meals. I ordered the Arburi Salmon with Caviar and the Truffe Pesto Gnocchi. It was the best meal I've ever had since I've moved here. They also sell my fav Remedy Kombuchas that I always bought back home in Oz. Definitely my favourite place so far.

My Dumpling Darlings 😍🥟 I ABSOLUTELY love dumplings (ate a lot of bibigo ones during cb), so I really loved this place! I came here with four friends and we ordered a total of 3 set lunches ($16 each) and a few ala carte dumplings. Our total came up to $101.20, which was a decent price for five people in my opinion, since the food was good! (๑•͈ᴗ•͈) The Miso Mushroom Noodles ($8 ALC) was decent, it tasted mostly of the mushrooms. Not a big fan so I wouldn't reorder this but nonetheless still pretty worth. The Braised Pork Noodles ($8 ALC) was quite nice, I loved the pulled pork bits! Nothing really special though, I wouldn't reorder either. The Sichuan Pork Noodles ($8 ALC) was the ✨BEST✨ out of all 3 noodle dishes and my friends agreed! It had a small spice kick to it, definitely suitable for those who don't really take spice! ・ᴗ・ The Original Dumplings ($7 ALC, 5 pieces) were good, but I still prefer my bibigo ones 🙊 worth the try though if you're looking for good old plain dumplings! The Sichuan Dumplings ($8 ALC, 5 pieces) were pretty meh in my opinion, but my friends liked it. It was definitely much spicier than the Sichuan Noodles (I think there was more chilli oil added) so some might not be able to take it. The Fried Pierogi Dumplings ($8 ALC, 5 pieces) were ✨ DEFINITELY THE BEST DUMPLINGS WE ORDERED!!! 😍🤤 We ordered 2 extra plates hahaha. It had a slight truffle taste to it and the sauce accompanying it was really good as well! I would definitely recommend ordering this. The Smoked Duck Dumplings ($8 ALC, 5 pieces) was the second best dish we ordered. The smoked duck was just salty enough and tender, but my dumpling had a little too much mushroom which I didn't like. Would recommend ordering this too though! I had the Passion Fruit Ginger Soda ($6 ALC), which was pretty refreshing, but I mostly tasted the passionfruit flavour only, didn't really taste the ginger soda. My friends had the Grapefruit Thyme Green Tea ($6 ALC). I had a few sips and it was really sour, so I didn't really like it. I think the sourness overpowered everything else 😖 They still finished the drink though, so I guess it's a personal preference thing! Overall, I was pretty satisfied with this place. The staff were really nice and friendly as well, so it's a big plus! Would definitely revisit again in future 🌞🥟 P.S. do try to make a reservation before heading down! We had to wait ~20mins as it was full house when we arrived. TLDR; order the Sichuan Sichuan Pork Noodles ($8 ALC), Fried Pierogi Dumplings ($8 ALC, 5 pieces) and Smoked Duck Dumplings ($8 ALC, 5 pieces) 🥳 - JH

Noodles + Dumplings Ordered the miso mushroom noodles ($7-8, can’t remember the exact price) & added the ramen egg (+$1.50). And then added the original 5 dumplings ($7) because you can’t come here and not have their dumplings. Second time here and it hasn’t disappoint. Love the vibes here and really one of the most worth it places around Tanjong Pagar! (If you’re going down there, remember to make reservations or you can be prepared to wait)

Best Dumplings In SG (~$20-30) I had some of the most amazing dumplings at @dumpling.darlings the other night!! Other than being super affordable, these dumplings were really one of the most delicious I’ve eaten in Singapore!! A dumpling platter is $20 for 15 dumplings (5 flavs, 3 pieces each)! My fav dumplings were the Curry Momo (with Impossible meat) and the Pierogi (cheese, potato and bacon) 🤤 smth interesting they have is their Dessert Dumplings (poached pear and Tasmanian ice cream) The Miso Mushroom noodles ($6) were really nice and filling too!! Verdict: 10/10 (affordable and super delish!!!)

Because I can never be bothered to drag my ass West, I’ve annoyingly missed out on the gem that is Kindred Folk. I’m not gonna lie: I was abit skeptical walking in cause it looked so neighbourhood kinda tiny and messy and I’m sorry stereotypes ok. But man their ice creams. I wouldn’t even call them ice cream tbh, it’s creamier than even some gelato I’ve tried, boasting a correspondingly lower melting point as well (ie. melts in your hands not your mouth lolol). I settled for the Cereal Milk and Sea Salt Gula-Coconut (or something along those lines), and I can assure you both flavours are amazeballs. The former was mildly malty, had a good dose of sugar and a mega creamy texture; the latter had lovely bits of desiccated coconut (I believe) folded into a smooth, lightly sweetened but discernibly salted base. I loved them both so much I was drinking the melted remnants off the cup 🙃 I also had a little taste of their Apple Pie and I’d definitely call that a winner too!

Rum & Raisin with Brownie A popular ice cream shop that drew the attention of all the passers-by, I was lucky enough to get a table for four outdoors at Level 1. The Rum & Raisin ice cream was a premium flavour that appeared quite tempting (alcoholics alert!), but I wished it could still go a bit more generous with the alcohol for that absolute kick. Their Brownie, on the other hand, left an impression that it was slightly on the dry side, and that could have made the brownie a tad crumbly. However, if taken with the melting ice cream, the satisfaction seemed to be just right. I guessed the photo would speak for itself in this case.

Under The Radar ... While I love the vibe at Eagle [email protected] Albert Park mall, the ice cream at cosy Kindred Folk just steps away is gorgeously delectable and rich! Our fav flavours - the dark Belgium choc and pure hazelnut - eat them together, and it’s cool Nutella++ heavenly bliss. The ice cream is made with pride, and I’d pick Kindred Folk over so many other ice cream parlours in Singapore! 😍😍😍

Soyo Japanese The Soyo Japanese is a Japanese inspired Hotdog Bun and fared better in my opinion, with spicy mayo, soy glaze, sweet onions and nori blanketing the Kurobuta Pork Sausage which was a lot more juicy and flavourful than its spiced chicken sausage counterpart. Pretty pricey for a bun, but made more affordable with Burpple 1 - 1!⁣

Torched Cheese Got the Torched Cheese Hotdog Bun, in which I could choose between Kurobuta pork sausage or spiced chicken sausage, I opt for the latter since im not a fan of pork. Topped with shiitake mushrooms, soy glaze and drizzled in triple cheese, the chicken sausage is tender and sandwiched between buns that are buttered and toasted to a slight crisp. It could get a bit dry after a couple of mouthful and I personally felt that this was not worth the price tag. Because of Burpple 1 - 1, I got the combo set and chose the Fresh Parsley Garlic Fries to go with it but it turned out to be a disappointment as there was barely any hint of garlic, and tasted just like any other normal fries out there.⁣

Hafu Chili Fries (4/5 ⭐) Hafu chilli fries ($5) The fries is good but not special, it's not that crispy but more to the soft side. The sauce is a hit like bolognaise + mayo and cheese, it's good but as expected the sauce only on top so when the top layer is gone we only have the normal fries. Great food and great service! The waitress are so nice and patient with us. Overall the food is great but the sauce might not to everyone's taste.
