I’m a huge fan of matcha so I had to order this! And it certainly doesn’t disappoint. Besides being aesthetically pleasing, the pancakes were light and fluffy, with a fragrant green tea taste (I think matcha powder was added into the batter).

The green ice cream was sweet, creamy and not at all bitter. Served with chunks of banana, strawberries and blue berries😋 Not at all “gelat”, like how some matcha desserts tend to get.

The baguette was so crispy and perfectly toasted! The beef was plentiful and flavourful too. I was pleasantly surprised it came with fried spring rolls - again, super crispy and just lather it with the sweet dipping sauce.

Get this over the pho, which was so-so.

Noodles a tad sweet but heaped with a generous portion of seafood (prawns), omelette egg, tofu and onions.

Sprinkle some crushed peanuts and help yourself to some of their flavorful chili besides the kitchen counter to add that extra spicy kick.

$8 for two mains with Burpple Beyond ✨

Only tried the gashouse eggs out of all the mains pictured, but it’s a winner! Oozing yolk underneath a thick layer of melted cheese and a sweet and savoury bacon jam atop a crumbly pastry. I really liked the bacon jam and pastry and wish it could be bigger :<

The staff were so nice too, as they didn’t chase us out even though 4 girls were sitting there for close to two hours during New Year Eve’s crowded lunchtime period.

Total bill was $55.60 for four mains and four drinks, with Burpple Beyond.

One of the more expensive bingsus ($14.90). The shaved ice cream was very milky and comes with a vanilla ice cream topping. For the price, I wished it came with more toppings like almond flakes or crunchy cornflakes.

First time trying the white rabbit soft serve (a Shanghai speciality according to the menu) - surprisingly not as sweet as we thought it would be. The “tissue” wrapping was a cute touch.

It’s nice enough when eaten on its own, but the taste is easily overwhelmed by the much richer pistachio soft serve. Pistachio and earl grey soft serve are still my favourites here!

And the waffles 😍 still as crunchy and maple syrupy as ever. Total was $12 for both waffles soft serve.

Favourite was the Hokkaido milk soft serve, which was milky and creamy without being cloyingly sweet. The black sesame soft serve was good too, rich and nutty with a hint of bitterness.

The drinks were a let-down though. The black honey popcorn drink was diluted and artificial-tasting and the matcha milk tea too powdery.

I liked how both sets were served on a simple wooden tray, as an aesthetic background for photo-taking. $11.90 for both sets.

Still one of my favourite places to have mentaiko salmon anything! Don’t be fooled by the deceptively-small looking portion, one bowl of this mentaiko-drizzled goodness was definitely filling enough. The salmon was fresh and the onsen egg done right - one poke and out oozed the yolk.

The only thing is that this isn’t the place to linger over a meal - the restaurant is pretty small and we were seated around the food preparation area. My third time here and won’t be the last!

The 로뽕 (ro-ppong) comes with a generous portion of stringy mozzarella cheese and tomato-based cream, as well as mussels and fish roe. A must-order for cheese lovers! We preferred this to the 크뽕 (ke-pong) which tasted like a milder version of cabonara as the cream used isn’t as heavy. Though we requested for the spicy version, the spiciness could not be detected. Total bill came up to $23 for 2 pax.
