BAKUTEH 🙌🏻 Kee Hiong Bak Kut Teh is slightly different from the usual sg-style BKT because it has herbal broth rather than the white peppery one. Very comforting to the tummy 😊

They have different parts available but I’d recommend y’all to try their 1) Dry Bak Kut Teh 2) Tua Kut Soup 3) Mee Sua
.
Other than their outlet at People’s Park, there is another one at AH Garden Cafe. Plus - they’re available on Grabfood, Honestbee and Deliveroo (if you just wna stay home this PH and nua but still eat some soupy goodness)

Watch out for the next episode of expectations vs reality where I (once again) make questionable decisions in my life regarding fast food (◐‿◑)

TLDR; Think twice before buying BK new cheesy burger / I eat questionable food so you don’t have to eat them.

Malaysian style kind of broth - where it’s more herbal and less peppery. Their soup is not bad though can be a bit more savoury. The tenderloins are a bit tough to bite too.

I think Singaporeans tend to like the SG-style white pepper Bakuteh more than the Malaysian style black herbal-ish soup...right??
Cause I think I kinda like white soup one more 😄

My favs here are Pistachio Chocolate Chip and Almond Biscotti.
Honest, I’m not a nuts person. Like legit my friends and family know I don’t eat most nuts. Like I eat Ferraro Roche and spit out the nut in the middle...yeh you get it 😛
But after the nuts are baked and sliced up, it’s super crispy, and doesn’t choke you up like a normal nut does!
Very healthy snack to nom on when you get hungry between meals. (I know it looks plain but wait til you put one in your mouth)

Best to eat with coffee, tea or me (⁎⁍̴̛ᴗ⁍̴̛⁎)

If you didn’t already know, Malaysia Chiak is now at Level 2 of Westmall.
I grew up eating loads of Malaysian food so of course I had to try this place!

I love Malaysian style Char Kway Teow.. I can never eat SG’s CKT because it’s too sweet for me.
This Penang CKT is quite good; the texture of the noodles and taste is nearly there. However it is lacking in fragrance (probably not enough pork lard in this) and that little bit of spiciness.
Plus where are my cockles ☹️

How leh? By warning all foodies not to buy this Salmon burger thingy that @mcdsg came up with! Jialat cannot believe I wasted my calories on this scam. (If you saw my IG story you’d know)
The burger as a whole doesn’t taste that bad la...until you bite the raw onions ⚡️😖 (shooketh) I think it’s there to cover up the taste of the burger...
The “SALMON” patty has the texture of a chicken patty but it tastes like chicken with a salmon aftertaste.
Ya, I know. Confusing right?
I think the nicest parts are the buns and sauce.

Pretty cool concept; you can choose either ice cream / soft serve + 1 sauce topping!

Jiak Modern Tzechar is a Halal Chinese restaurant located at hillv2. I think they took over the Indian shop before. Quite a chill place during lunch time and yes, there’s air con!!
Food is a little on the pricey side but tastes pretty ok.
