Gula Melaka Cake 13++ Similar texture to the sugee cake, q fragrant but not very impactful. The almonds on top were a really nice touch, but I almost prefer sinpopo's as it was a lot stronger, if too sweet. Rather safe, if a little too safe(as we all should be rn)

Iberian Pork Meat of cut was shoulder blade done medium well. Look at the hues of pink! Liked how the fats was congregated at the edges encapsulating the moistness within and easily removable if we are skipping the fatty part. Meat was really tender to my liking, with a little herb and peppery flavor to it. Got to try it for yourself! Overall ambiance was good too, good location for a light hearted dinner & drinks!

With a refreshed all-day ala carte menu, launched since the beginning of March, there are new creations waiting to excite diners of PORTA. Starting off with an appetizer such as the Parma Ham ($16) will help open your tastebuds as this dish tingles with your three tastes’ categories in sweet, salty and sour. The dish comprises of a mesclun salad with watermelon cubes that have been compressed with lime juice and lime zest and Parma ham. A little drizzle of balsamic vinegar and some Thai lime aioli by the side adds life into the dish. For the main courses, diners can choose between the Black Cod ($29) or the Venus Clams ($24), with the latter slightly edging out for me though the former is very good as well. The delicate and oily fish, coated with a pistachio and puffed rice layer, is pan-seared skin down to get a crispy exterior before finishing it in the oven and served with a baby spinach puree and edible flowers. For the pasta dish, capellini is cooked in a clam stock that contains shio kombu to give it the savouriness while the Indonesia clams brings a touch of sweetness to the overall mouthfeel. What probably is the ingenious touch is adding lots of sliced garlic and a chilli padi into the cooking to spice things up a little while sakura ebi completes the finishing garnish. •••••••••••••••••••• 📍PORTA 1 Unity Street, Park Hotel Clarke Quay, Level 1, Singapore 237983

short ribs The Manzo ($48++) features beef ribs slow cooked for 48 hours - the meat falls right off without much probing, and is extremely tender! It’s glazed with a Marsala wine sauce, sweet with a mix of spices. The beef retains its natural juices and went surprisingly well with the unconventional sauce. Am looking forward to a return visit!

seafood stew First of all, I must say that the service here is impeccable! The staff are warm, welcoming and extremely attentive to your needs - it really elevates your dining experience. The Cacciucco ($44++) is a homely seafood stew of Tuscan origins. The soup was thick and savoury with plenty of brine. Was surprised to find such variety and large servings of seafood - there was fish, squid, prawns, scallops, mussels and even crayfish! It far surpassed my expectations and I’d definitely return for this. The flavours are quite strong, so I’d recommend sharing! 🌟

@burpple @burpplebeyondfans deals expiring 31 Mar 2020!. - Left to right: 🍝 Capellini 🥖 Freshly baked bread 🍝 Gnocchi 🍝 Pappardelle 🥧 Tiramisu - Capellini - Angel hair served with Crab Meat and cooked in bisque sauce. This was a very enjoyable dish. Al dente angel hair topped with generous and fresh portion of crab meat. The meat adds sweetness to the overall dish contrasting against the slightly salty and savoury taste of the bisque sauce. Must try!. - Gnocchi - Potato dumpling served with Gorgonzola Cheese Sauce. Love the texture of the Gnocchi! It's soft, smooth and chewy. Overall the taste is considered rather light. It wasn't bland but it doesn't have a very rich and strong cheese taste. Personally I quite enjoyed it but would have prefer a slightly sweeter choice of cheese. The cheese sauce was smooth, light and not flaky. - Pappardelle - Pasta with Pork Leg ragout marinated 7 days in red wine. The pasta itself has a firm texture, tasted abit like Mee hoon Kueh but less smooth. Very tender slices of pork leg with undertones of red wine. Fans of red wine will enjoy this dish. The sauce itself seems to be a light creamy tomato sauce. - Tiramisu - a perfect balance of cream, alcohol and coffee. Some Tiramisu could be overpowering in either aspect but not this. The cream is light and yet sweet and creamy with light notes of alcohol and coffee. The texture of the 'cake' is perfect. Although soaked, it still held on to a good texture and wasn't too wet or dry. Definitely must try! Rather pricey for such a small portion but it was sooo good. - 📍Burlamacco Ristorante 30 Stanley Street Nearest MRT: Telok Ayer (DTL)

Amuse Bouche (one per person) The best thing about this place is the location and the view. Maybe it’s not fair to judge a restaurant just by referring to the Valentine’s Day set menu ($178++ for non-front row tables) and dining experience, but based on that, it doesn’t rank among the top 15 Italians in Singapore. Portions are Lilliputian, none of the dishes is a wow, and the dessert is too dry. The menu said “lobster risotto”, but it’s really crayfish!!?! I remained hungry and was tempted by the idea of buying French fries at OverEasy downstairs. Service is not terribly proactive - one must ask for water refills several times during the meal. After opening the wine, the waiter asked “would you like to test, or should I just pour?” In a restaurant of this calibre, you don’t ask this kind of question - more training is called for! Cheaper restaurants would present a flower to lady guests, but not here! Forlino is a case of marble pricing but linoleum food and service. Chef Osvaldo Forlino’s No Menu restaurant is not great, but better than Forlino! Shame!
