Portobello Burger ($20) A completely vegan restaurant which prioritises health, the food has a very meditarranean taste to it. The surprising thing about this meal was the fact that the burger did not include brioche buns but rather the burger was made by the mushroom itself. Even though some parts may taste bland, together with the dehydrated chips, pineapple and beetroot patty, the burger had a nice sweet tinge. The service is quite good despite the lack of staff. Clarify with the staff how you can use the deals before ordering! They are more than happy to clarify any issues.

Vegan Bowls Good deal with the Beyond Deal especially with vegan food being extremely pricey. I quite like the burrito bowl ($16) but the flavours can be enhanced. Almond latte ($6.50) was disappointing - it seemed to be nespresso machined coffee mixed with almond milk. However, service was great and they include the calories count for each food item which was appreciated.

Portobello Burger ($20++ U.P.), Zucchini Noodle Carbonara ($16++ U.P.); Both On Burpplebeyond [TLDR Alert] My family and I have bought into the propaganda of Netflix Documentaries- Game Changers and What the Health. What this means is an attempt to maintain a vegan diet (plant based diet) which is difficult with what the F&B scene in SG has available so we give ourselves some leeway of vegetarian options when dining out. But at wholesome savour, the vegan theme is the pride of the menu. Take this portobello burger for example, the large dark mushroom serves as the burger bun with animal free ingredients; the mycoprotien chicken (plant based meat) reminded me of unseasoned mash potatoes which complimented a pleasantly tart beetroot patty. Other delightfully ingredients included the diary free cheese which has sent me stocking up on all the dairy free cheese I’ve found on redmart because I cannot live without cheese and these are some great cheese. Lastly the dehydrated chips will feel like tasty substitutes to your usual chips, warmly welcomed by my mum and I aka crisp lovers. Separately we also had the zucchini carbonara with some savoury coconut bacon and a fun tasty nut sauce. Sadly I found the zucchini noodles too crunchy for my liking because I was expecting noodle texture. All in all, kudos to Burpplebeyond for a vegan treat at an affordable price point.

Healthy Food #BurppleBeyond 1-1 All in breakfast $12.80 Chicken rice $9.80 Beef Rendang $11.80 A very pretty little joint decorated with pastel pink and rose gold theme. Even their bowls and plates were pastel pink. Staff was very friendly even when we were using the Beyond deals. For food wise, the all in breakfast tasted exactly how it looks, we think its pricey even with Beyond for what was served. The rest of the 2 rice bowls was of no surprises too. Probably wont be back cause of the price and the quantity and quality of food.

Healthy Bowls At West Coast Plaza Cosy place for sure, and for healthy bowls, I think it’s pretty great on flavour. I had the garlic rice topped with salmon, broccoli, crab stick, cherry tomatoes and mushrooms. My mom and sis had their set meal which comes with a drink and sides (gyoza/corn soup or truffle fries to share). Their drinks are v v worth it. The avocado smoothie doesn’t taste like those in your usual hawker centre, it’s really smooth and light with almond flakes. And their barley drink is super refreshing with cooked barley and honey I suppose. One for one set meal deal using Burpple. But can only choose from the standard menu, cannot DIY your own bowl but still a great deal nonetheless. Love this hidden gem in the west and I’m sure to come by if I’m around the area.

Heathier Lunch Of The Week Thinking of eating healthier after a sinful week. Ordered the burpple set with Avocado Smoothie and truffle fries. The avocado smoothie is damn worth it comparing to the one we usually get from the market opposite.

Overhyped Burger. The Mushroom Burger Though.... Shroom Burger >>> SmokeShack. No green biasses here. Trust me, I was as shook 😯. I’m more of an in&out gal but given all the buzz I decided to give Shake Shack another shot. Boy was I disappointed. The patty did not manage to hit all the basic notes — it was dry, not that tasty... I’d probably scoot to McDonald’s given its price points too 🍔. HOWEVER the crisp-fried portobello mushroom... with cheddar cheese... oooooof 🤤. It had the perfect thickness of batter, the juiciest meatiest portobello, with some sauce/seasoning that made it incredibly tasty. 💯% would recommend skipping the overhyped classic burger for what you’d not find at most fast food joints.

Build Your Own Bowl Surprisingly nice beef! Served warm, this was tender and well marinated. The vegetable options were sufficient and tasted really good too! ($19.90++)

Build Your Own Grain Bowl (Smallest, $15) All the ingredients in this bowl were amazing! Super fresh and tasted really flavourful. The ambience here is also amazing, with homiest decorations in the middle of CBD! This is way better than the usual grain bowl places I’m used to frequenting like Daily Cut, Wheat etc. Got the smallest bowl, with sweet potato mash, roast chicken, avocado, tzaziki and Goji berries. I’m a big eater and I still couldn’t finish the generous portion of sweet potato mash! Paid around $15 for this (added $1 for avocado). Just take note that this isn’t a main that qualifies under Burpple Beyond. Didn’t know it till we were at the counter sadly...

Thunder Tea Rice One of the better ( or “ Gao” lei Cha soups I have tried .. with a very thick like consistency - not sure if starch or glutinous rice was added to blend the soup . The grounded sesame flavour shone brightly and was delightful . The vegetables were also crisp and green and not greasy. Ask for their homemade chilli because that is a star on its own as well . For lei Cha enthusiasts , before you get disappointed , this dish is only available on Wednesdays . My only issue is the vibes of fortune centre - you won’t go there for no reason .

Thunder Tea Rice Rare as it is , i jump for joy when I find Hakka thunder tea rice in singapore. However, most stalls operated by Food courts do not meet the cut because of the generous amounts of oil incorporated into the vegetables ( to cook them fast ) by you know who. Instead of having a healthy meal , it may turn out disastrous. So this thunder tea rice at fortune centre is my personal Favourite. The vegetables are prepared with very little and almost no trace of oil and the amounts of vegetables are generous. What's most worthy to mention is the huge comforting bowl of basil and mint soup that accompanies the rice and yes - it is served pipping hot. Note that thunder tea rice is served only every Tuesday. Don't forget to ask for a portion of their home made vegetarian sambal - it adds a nice dimension to the vegetables and rice. The best thunder tea rice in Singapore in terms of value ( SGD6.50), health consideration and comfort ( air con seating ). Ordinarily I wouldn't venture to fortune centre ( because there is no reason to ) but for food this good and comforting , I am most willing :)

So I tried the #vegetarian version of #bakkutteh with noodles ($6.50, only available on Thursdays) recently during lunch at work. Was served a generous serving of vegetables and a few pieces of mock meat in a tasty soup base - surprisingly better than I expected! Heh, but I still prefer my usual order of organic soba from the store though! 🙊 Btw, blog updated with a movie review on the Korean comedy, Fashion King: www.mitsueki.wordpress.com

These Satay are actually vegetarian. The Lotus Kitchen concept takes vegetarian dishes to new heights with natural premium ingredients. What’s interesting here is the use of premium ingredients any non-vegetarian may not have heard before. These ingredients, which are all natural, include lion’s mane mushrooms, agaricus blazei mushroom, tian ma, cordyceps flower, burdock and sugarcane sprout from Taiwan. . . The Dinner Set for 4 – $128 (U.P $180) includes Starter, Soup, Main, Vegetable, Local Delight, Noodles or Rice and Dessert. Check out other dinner promos at Chinatown Point > bit.ly/chinatownpoint #DFDSP

Pen Cai: Golden Bowl of Fortune (part of a 9 course menu at $568++/10 pax). My first time trying the food at Lotus Kitchen and I was impressed. It tastes clean, healthy, yet flavourful. 🔸 For CNY, they have created a line-up of Set Menus catering for 4 to 10 persons, some including this Pen Cai and Yu Sheng. There are several healthy creations, such as a homemade vegetarian fish with fruit salad (my fav dish of the evening), longevity noodles (wait for my post on this), and this Golden Bowl of Fortune Pen Cai which was brimming with over 22 wholesome ingredients. 🔸 I liked how this Pen Cai was lovingly prepared with many different cooking processes, containing many premium vegetarian ingredients. Wholesome and flavorful, I could go meatfree for a day if this is what I'm having. 🔸 Taken during a tasting.

For Vegetarian and Vegan-friendly Breads Situated along the same street, this bakery is positioned in between their retail store and restaurant near the Aljunied MRT station (1 min walk). It churns out a comprehensive variety of healthy and organic breads without the use of chemical additives, thereby allowing you to taste the natural abundance from within. I've purchased quite a few items but only pictured the above three. Strictly speaking, the bread itself tastes like those you get from your neighbourhood bakeries, but with a stronger fragrance (面包香). The red rice with almond (top right) has a surprise center consisting of mildly-sweet almond paste, while the charcoal red bean bun (bottom) is filled with red beans that were also mildly-sweet and evidently mashed by hand because of its rough texture. The price of each bun ranges from $1.60 to $2 - it's pretty pricey, but at least you know that you're eating only the good stuff. Also feel free to give the mini pastries (scone, blueberry tart and tau sar piah) a miss because they're not very well done, but you may want to try their eggless cakes!

Almond Noodles Almond noodles $6 cheap and good!! The almond sauce was so fragrant and delicious. Yummly nutty. I like how it was thick enough to coat every stand of noodles. Almond flavour was really prominent. I also liked the fact that there was plenty of vegetables in it, ranging from grated carrot, sliced cabbage and pea sprouts (I think) They added a refreshing crunch to every bite. Good portion size and worth the money. They also serve many other healthy and organic dishes. And the prices are quite cheap for a restaurant-quality meal. ((On a side note, Place is air conditioned so you can enjoy food in comfort. They also have a market and bread shop just next to their restaurant. Don't be shy to pop by after your meal at their restaurant :))
