Yummy chicken based ramen that feels healthier than the usual tonkotsu. Love the yuzu citrusy taste of the broth too

One of our favourite items at Afuri, the yuzu tsukemen is a dipping noodle with a bowl of yuzu-flavoured dipping sauce for you to use! The dipping sauce was fairly concentrated and it really brings out the yuzu flavour; we love it as it is pretty refreshing and not as salty as most of the other dipping sauces commonly used for tsukemen!

The dish also comes with a bowl of noodles topped with a ramen egg, yuzu peel and of course char siew. The noodles were fairly decent although they could be a little soft and less springy compared to those at most other ramen restaurants. While the yuzu peel was a pleasant surprise and added a nice citrus flavour to the noodles, we felt that the pork was rather disappointing as it was way too tough! 😐

For $15++, it was a fairly decent bowl of noodles although the meat definitely has room for improvement. Afuri is still pretty crowded even though it has been almost 3 years since it's opening, so you may want to go early if you plan to visit during peak mealtimes.

as with all shio ramen, this broth is lighter in flavour but the subtle yuzu aroma really does it for me. i’ve never had anything quite like this before. definitely worth a try!

This ramen surprises me very much. Very light broth and you don't feel "jelat" at the end of it.

The Spicy Tsukemen ($15.90) is a dipping ramen where you dip the thick and chewy noodles into a cold dipping sauce. I really like the texture of the bouncy noodles and it goes very well with the cold dipping sauce that is savoury, refreshing and packed with the fragrance of sesame and chilli oil. The soft braised pork belly, crunchy bamboo shoots and runny onsen egg complete the meal and this is one satisfying bowl of ramen that I wouldn’t mind having again.

Opted for something unconventional and ordered their signature yuzu shio ramen ($15.90++)! The citrus flavour predominates, with an undercurrent of savoury soup. The noodles were a little hard; the meat and egg mediocre. Much preferred the flavour and texture of the dry ramen with dipping sauce!
