Overall, we paid about $22-$24 per pax for a satisfying and very filling meal. As they had quite a number of dishes that I can foresee myself ordering again, I can finally understand why this restaurant has been featured numerous times in the past and I would similarly highly recommend more to come and brave the queue for this. A reasonably priced restaurant serving high quality Thai cuisine, great for groups (Less than 10 would be great as the restaurant is quite small).

Unfortunately this wasn’t presented in the pineapple like some other thai places but still tasted really good. The fried rice had a nice wokhei to it and it was quite a generous portion. It was laced with bits of egg, 4 decently sized prawns and chunks of pineapple. However, to me it lacked the distinct color and sweetness that comes from the pineapple but still not bad.

You get ALOT of soup for $10 and they don’t skimp on the ingredients as well with squid, prawns and mushrooms. I would say you could get 5-6 bowls of soup out from this pot. I ordered the thick version and I’m guessing it differs from the clear version by adding coconut milk/cream which you can taste from the soup. The coconut milk/cream mellows out the tomyum flavor slightly but you still get the acidic and spicy hits. Really flavorful and would definitely order this again. They only accept reservations from Mon-Thurs!!

Had to queue for super long (they told us 20 mins at first but we queued for about an hour). But after getting a seat, the food is served pretty fast! Cheap and good Thai food. Highlights would be the Omelette, Garlic Pork, Pandan Chicken And Pad Thai.

Came back to Ah Loy Thai after not visiting for quite a long time and it’s nice to see that the food is still good! The butter calamari ($9.40) was so shiok, the mango chicken ($9.30) was fragrant and the tom yam fried rice ($8.90) was flavourful with a hint of spice to it. So happy that their standards are still kept and it was satisfying still 😋

Having moved from Shaw Towers to a bigger space at Tan Quee Lan, Ah Loy Thai has proven time and time again that when it comes to good and authentic Thai food, they sure know what they’re doing! Be it their mango salad or signature tom yum soup, every dish hits all the right notes!
