Dumpling Noodle + braised chicken feet (S$6)

Long queue

Idk how the add ons were priced, but it was 3 wanton and 2 shuijiao total 3bucks

Noodles were fine, gravy was slightly sweet and thick, sambal was full of spice and theres some seafood funk to it. The sambal does work well with the sauce

Char siew was alright, reasonably tender but some parts were slightly dry.

The dumplings are good, theres some chives and otherwise it has good bounce from shrimp, black Fungus and pork.

Just that it's not exceptional, come here and try if you're nearby. Good thing is the hawker is not overly crowded even during lunch hours

The Most popular store at Empress Road Hawker centre. Ah Wing's wanton mee serves up an excellent plate of wanton mee.

Decided to add on 2 portions of Dumplings.

Noodles were el dente.

Char siew was glistening and slightly charred.

The wanton and the Dumplings were the stand out for me in this solid bowl of wanton mee.

Expect to queue for this wanton mee.

Very popular store here, and they also sell their frozen wantons, if u want to have some at home.

✨on weekends, the queues can get crazy long so try to come early, say like morning or brunch period ;) this as a breakfast food is OP
SUPER SUPER springy noodles!! as springy as tigger from winnie the pooh. that’s a weird ass comparison but it’s really so bouncy, not soggy even when soaked in the delicious savory soy sauce.

🍗duck meat is pretty gd, duck meat does have a reputation for not being as tender as chicken but this one was nice , salty and juicy with a non odorous duck flavor.

🥟let’s talk about the star of the show tho. the wantons !!!! first word to describe them: definitely velvety. soft wanton skin that almost melts in ur mouth, followed by a juicy mince meat filling :))

🙋🏻‍♀️just a little fyi: if you can’t get enough of these wantons, the stall also sells them frozen, so you can always buy a box home and boil them w broth at your own time ;) wanton forever <3

Came to Empress Market specially for Ah Wing's Wanton Mee. Available in $3.50 / $4.50, this plate of $4.50 consists of generous slices of char siew, 5 wantons and some green vegetables.
.
Hong Kong style of springy noodles and their char siew is quite tender. I think those who doesn't like fatty kind of char siew will love it. I feel that the highlight is their Wanton. One of the best I had tried, it's wrapped firmly with generous minced meat packed with flavour. I can understand why there are so many regulars came here to buy boxes of Frozen Wanton back home now.

What’s good to eat at Empress Road Market (a.k.a. Farrer Road Market)? One of the stalls you gotta try is Ah Wing’s Wanton Mee (01-108). Spot the stall with the longest queue in the hawker centre and you’re at the right place.

I was terribly impressed by both the wanton mee ($3.50/4.50) and dumpling soup ($4 for 5 pieces’/ $7 for 9 pieces). Let’s first talk about the noodles. There’s a pleasant yellow hue to the noodles and they are firm, elastic and eggy. Very similar to what you get in Hong Kong with the mild alkaline taste.

And the wantons here are delectable. Loads of minced pork filling is packed in each wanton. Plus the skin is soft and smooth. Char siew is of the lean variety. It has a charred, caramelised exterior that was reasonably sweet from the marinade.

Each dumpling was plump and meaty. The filling is generous where it’s stuffed with pork, a whole shrimp and black fungus. Very tasty.

Decided to add on the braised chicken feet (additional $2; or available separately as a noodle dish). It’s decent but I found it to be rather bony and dry.

Not forgetting the sauces, their dark sauce was a perfect concoction. The chilli had a strong taste of dried shrimp but wasn’t spicy enough for my liking. It tasted more like XO sauce.

My only regret is that I didn’t try this much earlier despite it being very convenient for me.

Ah Wing’s is open on Tuesdays, Saturdays and Sundays during the CB period.
