Noodles were nice, but barely any fish in the bowl.
The fishy taste stands out quite a bit, which was fine with me. It was also rather sour and tasted strongly of onion - very different from the laksas in Singapore. Nonetheless, I really enjoyed it!

Review π¬:Was my first time trying penang assam laksa and despite the pungent smell and the lack of hygiene, I was pretty impressed. It was sweet, sour and spicy all at once and was very satisfying for a first time experience. It is definitely something I would return for, but do go early to avoid the queue.

Assam laksa is probably something either you like it or you donβt? With prawn paste and mackerel, the bowl was a tad fishy for some but most of us liked it, moreover the abundance of mint leaves actually helps to cut any of that. Well-balanced umami/sweet/sour not too spicy but even with its small portion, felt extremely sinful π

[Honest Review] I can say, this Air Hitam Assam Laksa is the worse laksa I ever eat in Penang. It tastes very very very bad. The soup is bland - not spicy and not sour AT ALLLLLL!! Environment is a nay. Overall, just avoid this place if you want to have a good bowl of laksa. This ain't a place. Well, maybe few years back it was good, but the day I went, it did make me enjoy in disappointment πππ»
