One last drink for the road before Lockdown 2: Electric Boogaloo kicks in at midnight, and @almostfamous.sg was a damn good place to have the Last Sipper. The interior decor is decidedly brutalist (fun architect fact: the name brutalism is derived from the French ‘béton brut’, which roughly translates to ‘raw concrete’. Nothing to do with its usually oppressive scale or the stiff straight planes), but the delightfully dulcet tones of the smoothest jazz tunes slithering through the speakers make for an incredibly relaxed & comfy beer binging experience.⠀

Almost Famous has fourteen taps of brilliant beer to match the music, and this beautiful blonde is @brewlander Resurgence Saison. It costs quite a pretty penny at sixteen bucks per pint before an additional ten percent service charge is slapped on, but it’s a rare brew that you can’t find on tap anywhere else.⠀

Saison is beer brewing’s yesterday man, as everyone and their dog is busy brewing up even more IPAs. However, the Resurgence Saison is definitely capable of going toe to toe with any IPA, with its controlled hoppiness and bright floral overtones. It’s delectably refreshing, a little astringent, and crisp on the finish. Truly a delightful beer for a sweltering Singapore summer day, and I’d gladly take another pint of it.

I missed Happy Hour, but I still enjoyed my pint of Passionfruit Wheat Ale ($14+) from Pasteur Street. Citrusy & fruity, there are hints of passionfruit & lemon, more so the former than latter so it isn't sour like a saison. A light & delicious beer that pleases the crowd, & which I would order again.

Sat at the bar counter with my back turned to the world; but before I immersed myself in some me time, I looked around & found the decor to be pretty simple. With various tones of grey & silver, the style is very metallic, almost like the interior of a spaceship.

One downside is that reception was pretty bad here.. I sat at the bar, not sure if it varies throughout the premises as they don't have a huge space). WiFi also isn't for public use, so I left after 1 beer. I'll probably return with a friend, or if I have offline work to do. 🍻

I've been wanting to pop by Almost Famous Craft Beer Bar for the longest time - finally did, albeit when happy hour was just over. Happy hour at this hole in the wall at CHIJMES is 4 - 7PM (Mon - Sat) / 2 - 8PM (Sun). Pints of craft beer go for $10+, premium craft beer for $12+.

Happy Hour or not, whatever you swipe your (linked) credit card for, you'll get cashback from Shopback GO! I actually didn't know this until I checked my phone after I swiped 😂

This round of craft beers brought us so much squeals of delight. We were spoiled for choice with their creative options at reasonable prices (~$16-18)

My favourites - in order
Fermentation Two - complex tones both sweet and bitter, strong fermentation taste

Zeffer Apple Crumble - a dessert drink like your cider but mixed with sweet cinnamon, vanilla and blackberry tones.

Anytime Ipa - an easy drink thats bittersweet

Acai & Passionfruit Sour - reminds me of cold pressed fruit juice / a mix of sweets. Delightful nevertheless

Industrial chic comes with its cons too, chairs too stiffy to stay for a long round of beers

I was attracted by this shop with a very minimal design but comfort place to have your craft beer.

Mine was more on the sour taste with lesser alcohol among the other drinks. $16+

Dumplings are nicely cooked, not under- or over-cooked. Szechuan chili oil/sauce has a decent kick, but I'd definitely prefer a spicier one. Overall nubbad, but pricey.
