Thought I would drop by AM Bakery to check out their rendition of the Dirty Bread since I actually quite liked their Pain Au Chocolat previously.

The Dirty Bread isn’t too dirty; it’s dusted in chocolate powder and chocolate ganache, but it’s possible to actually have it pretty neatly without staining any other area apart from your hands (either that or I have adopted a technique on eating them). Admittedly, the Dirty Bread here is a little bit more on the bready side despite using a French pastry base; still a little flaky and buttery, while the inside comes with a generous amount of chocolate filling that was not overly sweet though rich while topped off with butter cocoa powder and more chocolate ganache over the top. Also one of the more affordable Dirty Bread around at $2.50 — worth trying if in the area.

Besides sweet Danishes and croissants, AM Bakery also bakes up loaves of majestic multigrain bread ($3.20 a loaf, if memory doesn't fail me) that's simply peerless. When consumed on the day of purchase, the exterior is satisfyingly crusty without being so hard to the point that biting into it may cause trauma to the more fleshy, vulnerable interior parts of your mouth, while the insides are sensationally soft and fluffy. It's also pretty damn delicious thanks to the fermentation process used by AM Bakery as well as the assorted seeds strewn all over the crust.

However, if you decide to keep it in the fridge to maximize its five day storage life, all you need to do is slice it up and toast 'em. The multigrain loaf magically gets even better when toasted, believe me. The crust is just as crusty as before, but the doughy innards just get so indulgently soft and light that I can't quite articulate just how wonderful it is.

Lads, if you want to make your missus happy, all you gotta do in the AM is whip up some of Gordon Ramsay's scrambled eggs, toast a couple of slices of AM Bakery's multigrain bread and give it to her in bed.

Give her the breakfast, not-nevermind.

Don't worry, this raspberry Danish doesn't just taste good in the morning, it's pretty damn good in the PM too. I'll just quietly see myself out.

Cringeworthy jokes aside, AM Bakery's raspberry Danish is rather excellent. The buttery, flaky pastry is topped with a squirt of tart, high quality raspberry preserve. Pair it off with a cup of tea and you'll be as posh as a billionaire's spoiled wife.

Their bestselling Almond Croissant – a straight form croissant laminated with AOP butter. A sugary white almond paste and crunchy almond flakes coat the flaky and crispy croissant.

Checked out the new AM Bakery at The Midtown; being a store that only does takeaway without any dine-in seats, the bakery sells freshly-baked croissants and French Bread as well as entire loaves as well.

Thought I really enjoyed this as a light bite; priced at $2.50, the Pain Au Chocolat is flaky and crisp while it whiffs of a light buttery aroma that is pretty alluring; coupled with the chocolate stuffed in between that's all soft and melted. Pretty well done!
