Randomly chanced upon this cafe and pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food. Their "Cold shoulder" cold brew white coffee is nice too!

Top left: sambal scramble sourdough @ $18+
Bottom left: fowl play jaffle @ $13.50+
Right: truffle fries @ $10+ & iced chocolate @ $7+ & mocha @ $6+

Came on Friday around noon and it's not very packed and managed to get a quiet corner. There arent that many items on the menu that offers meat in the dish so we decided quite quickly.

The jaffle was brioche pressed in cast iron and the bread was very very nice. It's tasty and the texture was perfect. It's so good that it makes up for the lack of taste in the fillings.

The sambal scramble sourdough looked good but was quite disappointing. There wasnt enough sambal taste and the blend with scramble was a bit strange. And the sourdough felt like it didn't play a part in the dish.

The fries and drinks were okay.

It's not bad but nothing fantastic either. Good ambience though.

We also had the 𝗦𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗱𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 ($3) with 𝗛𝗼𝘂𝘀𝗲𝗺𝗮𝗱𝗲 '𝗕𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗶𝗻' 𝗖𝗵𝗲𝗲𝘀𝗲 ($3), adding on a 𝗣𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝗦𝗮𝘂𝘀𝗮𝗴𝗲 ($5) and 𝗦𝗰𝗿𝗮𝗺𝗯𝗹𝗲𝗱 𝗘𝗴𝗴𝘀 ($4). The sourdough was nicely toasted, and the cheese was tasted amazing. The sausage was sufficiently juicy and the eggs suitably creamy. All good, but I thought the price was on the higher side.

We also liked the 𝟳 𝗢𝘇 𝗪𝗵𝗶𝘁𝗲 ($5) as it was smooth and robust. Overall the food was pretty good, but we felt most of the items were slightly pricey, except for the beverages (Espresso at $2.50, Mocha at $6) and jaffles (the portions were big). All the pastas cost over $20 and the breakfast platter goes for $22. But I'd likely return to @amberembersg for the jaffles and coffee.

I've heard of Raffles and waffles, but what on earth are jaffles? They're sandwiches pressed in a waffle iron, and Amber Ember specialises in them. Having visited one too many white, minimalist cafes, the light pink walls at Amber Ember were a refreshing change.

The breakfast menu was extensive and I zoomed in on the jaffles. There were playfully-named ones like Cheesus Loves You (lots of cheese) and Truffle Fun-Guy (with mushrooms), but I selected the 𝗙𝗼𝘄𝗹 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝘆 ($12).

Lemongrass-ginger roasted chicken thigh with mozzarella and chimichurri were sandwiched between the bread slices, which had garlic aioli on top. The chicken was tender and succulent, and combined brilliantly with the other components to form a delicious dish. The tapioca chips served on the side were good too.
