would come here for the drinks > food tbh!! the laksa mac and cheese (~sgd15++) although tasty and good came in a rly small portion with sadly 3-4 pieces of prawn so was q ex :-( the avocado toast (~sgd16++) used sourdough bread so that was nice. food was decent but the drinks were just πŸ₯°πŸ˜πŸ’―🫢 got the matcha latte and it was super gao!! asked for less sweet but i think still a tad bit sweet so will get without sugar next time. anw this is a perfect place to study bc there’s no one even on the weekends and the music acoustic vibes just ❀️❀️❀️

A signature on the menu, the Crack of Dawn ($7.50), depicts a pretty sunset with its layers of strawberry coulis, orange juice, and butterfly pea tea. The refreshing, fizzy and citrusy soda was just what we needed on a hot afternoon. Not to mention it's one for one with Burpple Beyond.

And with a craving for chocolate, the Valrhona Chocolate ($8) tart just hit all the right notes. RIch and decadent, the tart was filled with smooth bittersweet chocolate ganache and topped with a layer of mixed chocolate and caramel crumble. The tart crust was crisp and buttery, and the crumble added complexity and texture to what would have been a good but normal chocolate tart. πŸ˜‹β€

Scrumptious. Tart base holds its shape well and doesn't crumble too much, yet it was of a suitable hardness.

What stunned was the orh nee layer. Instead of an orh nee tart it's more just a good cream layer with a bit of orh nee taste, you can't expect orh nee taste to be too strong but it doesn't have to be, to be mindblowingly good. There's a nice coconut milk taste which was clean, plus a mild floral aroma from elderflowers. Its smooth and quite light for orh nee

Must try

Back at Ambling Turtle that I discovered only because of Burpplebeyond, today we tried the above tarts and they were good. I personally preferred the tart and sweet yuzu cheese just because of the nature of the flavours, but the Pula Hitam tart stayed true to the Asian dessert with a black glutinous rice paste as filling and a layer of thickened coconut cream as a top blanket.
Do note that the one for one beverages are only available for dine in and not takeaways which I found strange considering the latter would free up space where appropriate.

Quiet cafe with free wifi with very affordable 1 for 1 beverages and mini croissants. Honestly the beverages here might be the best out of all the cafes in Singapore. Highly recommended!

Recommend their yuzu tart which is refreshing and citrusy at the same time πŸ’― together with their huge cup of iced yuzu espresso β˜•οΈ - yuzu morning delight πŸ₯°
