Happened to pass by a food fair in Ang Mo Kio where Gold Medal Bolo Bun was giving out free freshly baked bolo buns to introduce themselves and gather feedback! They were given out in batches of 30 around every half an hour. It was a really good bolo bun - Bread was fluffy and the crust nicely crumbly, though I would have liked just a little bit more sweetness. The slab of butter sandwiched between also melted well to add a touch of savouriness. Not sure when they will start operations, but more of their deets on Instagram, @bolobun_ !

Spicy Mushroom πŸ„ Snack 香辣七味台湾杏鲍菇 (S$5)
Available at 台湾θ₯Ώι–€ζι²θ‡ stall in Ramadhan Feast - AMK Hub Food Fair in @amk_hub from 17 May to 2 June 2019
The giant mushroom is first boiled before grilling and spread with marinate.
Quite juicy and hint spicy spices for kick.

A treat from my sister & bro-in-law who bought this from Foodie Palace, operating on a pushcart & goes around shopping centres (back at Ang Mo Kio Hub basement now till 26 May). ✌🏻 Offering a variety of authentic THAI snacks ranging from the infamous Mango Sticky Rice, Mango Salad, colourful Lukchup 😍😍😍, pretty Tapioca Kuehs & many more, this might satisfy your cravings a little without buying an airticket to the Land of Smiles. πŸ‡ΉπŸ‡
Thai Tako (water chestnut & coconut milk pudding) used to be one of my favourites but its rarity almost made me forget its very existence! ❀❀❀ Going at $4 for 8 pieces, I was really excited to savour these childhood favourites but unfortunately it did not live up to expectations. πŸ˜” While the juicy water chestnut bits did add a nice crunch πŸ‘πŸ», the dessert cube was overly sweet & wayyyyy too soft. Definitely should have been firmer - removing the pandan leaf revealed the absolutely vulnerable tako that was reduced to a wobbly flop. The coconut layer wasn’t fragrant enough too. ❌
They redeemed themselves a little with their Candied Tapioca ($3). πŸ‘ŒπŸ»πŸ‘ŒπŸ»πŸ‘ŒπŸ» The thick tapioca pieces had a nice firm bite without being too tough, β€˜old’ (with unpleasant strands) nor too soggy from soaking in the sugar syrup. πŸ˜‹ While I still found it to be too sweet, it fared well when drizzled with some coconut milk which carried a faint aroma & cut the sweetness of the tapioca. πŸ’•
Still a far cry from the Thai desserts in BKK - someone teleport me there for a food trip, please? ✈

One of my favourite childhood eats at pasar malam, these ε˜Ÿε˜Ÿη³• (kueh TUTU) are definitely a great light snack to have! ❀❀❀
Daun Pandan ($3.20 for 5) does it right with perfectly soft & fluffy rice flour that isnt too thick, dry nor sticky. Beneath that pearly white steamed cake is an abundance of sugary ground peanuts that were neither too coarse nor fine - of the right texture & sweetness! πŸ˜‹πŸ˜‹πŸ˜‹ Super fragrant, sweet & savoury in every bite! Moulded into pretty flower shape, one is never enough! πŸ˜‰
Except that these ones at AMK Hub was a complete DISASTER cuz they were not thoroughly cooked! 😭😭😭 The steamed cake was still slightly powdery & the gula melaka version we had was NOT MOLTEN at all - still in pieces! 😱
We ate these when they were piping hot so no excuses ah! πŸ™…πŸ»β€β™€οΈ Maybe the Bishan J8 one fares better (tried & tested! πŸ‘πŸ»)

Among all that we tried, this dish from @abracowdabra has got to be my favourite among all! πŸ’• SATAY with Phad Thai?! Hmmm... sounds like a fusion of Malay and Thai cuisine that surprisingly work wonders to my palate! πŸ˜‹ The fragrant nutty satay sauce along with the pleasant, aromatic tinge of spice from the sambal chilli- a sweet & spicy combination that would suit those with a lower threshold for spice! As one who adores spice, I was glad the spicy factor here is rather prominent πŸ‘πŸ». The chicken chunks were also tender and succulent, well marinated and a compatible companion to the satay sauce! ✨ The crab phad thai comprises of snow crab leg along with a sous vide egg that possessed a soft, runny yolk, adding moisture and texture when mixed together with the thin vermicelli noodles. Thankfully this came with snow crab leg instead of surimi crabstick which I personally loathe for its fake flavour and plastic-alike texture. Each bowl of phad thai also comprises of egg omelette and a medley of spices such as spring onions, chilli flakes and fried shallots incorporated within the thin vermicelli noodles, enhancing the overall flavour and fragrance .
