What a beauty. One look and you know you're about to eat good stuff. The mee was fried further than crispy - it's fragrant. The fish was fresh and the sauce powerful. Just watch out for the auntie's attitude. I cannot understand why ordering the smallest plate means a styrofoam plate and not a proper plate.

Rather than the usual “ yu pian “ Soup , I decided to order a “ Yu gai” Soup . Yu gai ( in Cantonese ) simply means fish meat .

The soup was excellent - a homemade broth that was rich but not salty or artificially seasoned .

The Chunky fish meat pieces ( which were lightly flash fried instead of deep fried like other places ) were so very very fresh and I actually prefer it to fish slices .

I finished the whole bowl of soup and had no after effects of msg .

A very comforting meal .

If you are in need of good food at affordable prices , an ji will not disappoint you.

For 15 dollars , you get a huge and fresh fish head with firm meat and a homemade sauce that is slight sweet , savoury , spicy - so addictive.

Service is fast and friendly .

It’s my default stall for a consistently good steamed fishhead .

The meat in the fish head chunks was very fine and sweet, with the deep-fried texture adding an extra fragrance.

An ji is one of the most reliable stalls of the many that are selling steamed fish head.

The fish is always fresh , the service is fast and at 13 dollars for a meaty fish head , this is the go stall :)

The spicy preserved soy bean sauce and the crispy pork lard makes such a perfect combination. The creaminess and tangy-ness from the soybean sauce and the crunch and moisture from the pork lard atop the firm fish flesh just creates this magical experience in your mouth .

Be sure to pair with a bowl of rice to soak up all the gravy goodness .

Fish head in fermented bean sauce

This is my default stall to have steamed song fish head because the fish is always fresh and the food is consistently good.

The home made fermented bean sauce is so tasty and goes very well with the firm fish flesh.

For those of you who like crispy pork lards, you will be happy to find a few of these jewels garnished atop your fish head .

Highly addictive and very affordable ( at SGD 13)
