The grilled beef ramen is unique, as the grilled beef topping on the ramen is grilled really well while the ramen has been infused to a more local flavour. Also had the mushroom tempura and Agedashi Tofu which was equally yummy. 😋😍👍👍 #oishiidesu #supper #japanesefood #yummy #burpple #burppletastemaker #burpplekl

A very interesting interpretation of Japanese cuisine. You can’t call it a 100% Japanese because the flavours has been infused with our local taste bud. I love their mushroom tempura, the batter is light and it is not oily. The seasoning is good to eat it with out any sauce. But the star dish is in their grilled meat. Indeed a very interesting hidden gem.

Order this if you’re still craving for more of that juicy chicken! The yakitori is coated in a sweet sauce (a bit too sweet for me), but again, the meat is very tender and moist. I also would have preferred a bit more char from the grill for that smokiness.

Unlike your typical tempura where it’s airy and crispy, these Tempura Mushrooms still warrants an order at Anaki Bouzu. The batter is slightly peppery, which adds nice flavour and the mushrooms are still fried very well. It comes with a side of sweet chilli dip, which would have been nicer if it was a tad bit spicier!

A ramen bar, not so much, but maybe a noodle bar instead. Anaki Bouzu is a refreshing pop-up bar in TTDI serving (and these are my words) Japanese-inspired food. The smoked brisket in this bowl is very nice and tender, however the meatballs were forgettable. The broth is thicker than what ramen usually is and the team here adds some Malaysian-ness to this – think chilli oil and chilli bits. The chicken breast in the other bowl is deliciously tender and very well seasoned! Broth wise, I couldn’t taste it as it was doused in chilli oil and bits. My advice: Go without the bits as the heat takes-over the flavours of the entire bowl.

Good work, folks. I'm proud of the team. Anaki Boizu features an ostensibly Japanese menu (mushroom and calamari tempura, 3 types of kushiyaki skewers, takoyaki, karaage, deep-fried tofu, edamame and ramen), whipped up in a small open kitchen. And set your expectations properly for the dining environment: this is a tiny space popping up within InTunNation, tucked away on the first floor near Chequers TTDI. The results? Mixed, but generally interesting enough to warrant a visit if you're in the area.

The beef ramen is a bit of a misnomer - it misses out various elements of what one would expect in a ramen, as loose as the category is. But think of it as a beef soup and it fares very commendably. The noodles have a great bite and the texture is akin to hand-torn pan mee, the smoked brisket is very good (from Mom's BBQ? Smoked in-house? Surely not Beard Bros), and the broth balances the garlic and chili quite well. Good stuff. Would have liked to try the chicken ramen too (brined breast!) but we're running dangerously low on cash once again.

The other stuff? Bit more of a mixed bag. The mushroom tempura was decent but not very memorable, the shrimp takoyaki wasn't that good, and the skewers were kind of alright. Lot of sauce on both the chicken and the organ skewers but they were grilled quite decently. Granted, I'll probably head back to The Great Beer Bar or Maruhi Sakaba if I want better skewers at cheaper price points. We didn't try the dranks here but there was someone sitting at one of the tables who was dissing Artisan as having shit coffee so eh who knows. Maybe there's a secret coffee prodigy here. .
