Have been hearing a little about Analogue Anonymous on social media for quite a while but managed to chance upon the establishment whilst passing through the Geylang neighbourhood one day. For those whom are unaware, Analogue Anonymous exists as a concept where a coffee bar meets a lifestyle store that all has a photo studio element — all of which are located under the same roof; the coffee bar and lifestyle store are situated in the ground level of the shop house, while the photo studio and a dark room are actually located at the second floor. One thing particularly noteworthy is also how the lifestyle store does have a space specially carved out for the retail of pre-loved vinyl records as well. With its emphasis on espresso-based specialty coffee, Analogue Anonymous’s menu is split into sections dedicated to Coffee, Tea and Non Caffeine, while a line-up of bakes that are sourced from GURT Bakery can be found stocked in the display case.

We went for the Banana Bread from GURT Bakery to pair up with our order of the Kotor (Latte “dirtied”with Pandan) during our visit to Analogue Anonymous — the description card placed in front of the item in the display case mentions elements such as Pisang Mas Banana and “a slight touch of ginger”. One thing we absolutely loved about the Banana Bread here is how it comes with quite a fair bit of mashed bananas that provided a soft texture within the banana bread — this also makes the Banana Bread here come with a distinct sweetness from caramelised bananas which was immensely fragrant to say the least and not particularly carb-y; very delightful to have. That being said, the inclusion of ginger works wonders for the Banana Bread here and was the reason behind how it was so irresistible to us — that added touch of ginger gave a slight hint of spice in its finish that kept things refreshing to the tastebuds; also did remind us of the flavour profile of certain Peranakan-style desserts around that made use of both elements to achieve a similar effect as well.
