Chilli Sable | Cocoa Pop | Lime | Mango Coconut Nitrogen
Laundry line of desserts - talk about variety! The Cocoa Pop was my favourite - the chocolate was rich & decadent, with a fun, whimsical mouthfeel from the popping candy that lingers slightly after. I liked the mango coconut nitrogen too, as it was refreshing. A great way to end the night!

π Honey
Beeswax Aged Mezcal | Beetroot Aromatized Wine | Cherry Berry | Smoked Honey | Citrus | Flavour-changing Pills
Bonus cocktail from Dr. Kingston Chin.. Not sure how he knew that Mezcal is right up my alley. Smokey & deep, yet playful with honey & citrus. The flavour-changing pills are quite a funny/amusing touch to it, too.
While this cocktail is inspired by honey, the other flavours & smells come together such that this drink isn't too sweet. This was one of my favourites of the night.

Miso | Crystal Bread | Chive Oil
This was a stellar dish - a mainstay on ANTI:DOTE's menu, & I can see why. The charred creaminess of the cheese is very much a delight! The thinly-sliced bread is crispy while not being offendingly hard. As you use it to tuck in, you'll notice a beautifully gooey cheese pull & get a whiff of the fragrance from the chive oil.
I was glad I had my own portion & didn't have to share this my dining partner π

π Cordial
Giardina Floreale infused Diplomatico Planas | Milk Washed Elderflower Suze | Pear Cordial | Orange Blossom Water | Sparkling Sakura | Aromatised Wine
This cocktail disguised as a science lab experiment comes with a step-by-step show that assembles it in front of you. The draw of this is the aesthetic amusement, & that your nose & tastebuds are tickled every step of the way. It's quite diversely fragrant from the floralness of the lavender water to the zesty citrus smells of the lemon peel.

Potato Nest | Kristal Caviar | Yuzu Ponzu
Yet again, a beautiful serving of tapas.. The yuzu ponzu added a great smoky, umami touch to it. & the yellowtail was just as amazing as the light, cronchy potato nests it was served on - I'll take these over chips or any form of potato, any day.

π Pandan
Remy Martin VSOP | Pandan Coconut Fat-washed Bacardi Carta Blanca | Gula Melaka | Spices | Clarified Milk Tea | Pandan | Rose Water Air
From a quick glance at the ingredients, I figured I'd like this one too... & I was right. A dark spirit. A fat-washed spirit for the butteryness. A gentle fragrant nudge of pandan. The subtle sweetness of gula melaka. I lapped up every drop of this... & much to my delight, it seemed to last forever through my many sips π (lol)

Peanut Tofu | Kristal Caviar | Tom Yum | Daikon
My eyes widened as this tapas pairing was served. They were almost too precious to be eaten, these bite-sized parcels of scallops. They're a bit too exquisite to be called cute, but AREN'T THEY JUST SO ADORABLE?!
Flavour-wise, this was on point, & the seafood remained the highlight as they rightfully should. In all honesty, I didn't taste much of the Tom Yum, which I was afraid would overpower this dish (it did not). Noice.

π Roselle
Dates-infused Baijiu | Monkey 47 Sloe Gin | Rosella Kombucha | Ruby Aromatized Wine | ANTI:DOTE Cordial | Lavender | Floral Smoke
This was a surprising experience for me. I don't like Roselle; in fact, I steer away from it in food & drinks as much as I can. However, this was different.. Maybe because it's featured in kombucha form? There's none of the artificial, plasticky sweetness that I associate with Roselle on its own.
For that matter, I'm not a huge fan of Baijiu either.. But I reckon the infusion of dates made it more palatable for my tastebuds.
I enjoyed how pleasantly floral, yet smokily deep this cocktail is. I'm making up adverbs like I own the English dictionary.. But in short, this was a great one to start with, & got me excited for the rest.

The food pairing this time was a dessert platter with a spicy chocolate ball that crackled & popped in your mouth like the old fizzy candy we used to have as kids, and a spicy & sour mango tart that was paired with mango coconut nitrogen dessert for a tart yet sweet ending to our little cocktail adventure. I can confidently say that Iβll definitely be back for more cocktails when I need some strong remedies to cure me of my life related ailments.β
β
Thank you so much for the hospitality @antidotebar.sg, and thanks for having me as your plus one @wobblethebui!
The final cocktail of the night at @antidotebar.sg was a truly worthy one for the road. The El Padrino ($25++) is a Mexican inspired cocktail that sees mezcal aged in beeswax mixed with beetroot aromatised wine, smoked honey and a dash of citrus, all to be downed after ingesting a pill that Iβm just gonna assume is legal. The pill is a flavour changing pill that somehow manages to make even lemon juice taste sweet, and it revolutionises this entire cocktail.β
β
Iβve never had mezcal before, but I definitely want some more of its smoky goodness. The smokiness is lighter and less dense than the smokiness of a scotch, and it feels like a lighter drink. The mezcal is deliciously sweet thanks to the inclusion of the smoked honey & the effects of the pill, and it feels like a more refreshing & slightly sweeter whisky sour.

Thank you so much for the hospitality @antidotebar.sg, and thanks for having me as your plus one @wobblethebui!
Burrata is rather remarkable, but @antidotebar.sg found a way to make it downright divine. How, you ask? Well, first you aburi (flame sear) the cheese ball, then you season it with miso paste and chive oil for maximal flavour. Anti:doteβs Aburi Burrata ($28++) was so good that I largely overlooked the charming cocktail it was paired with. If you manage to get an alcoholic like me to pass over alcohol in favour of something, you just know that something is truly exceptional.β
β
The Aburi Burrata is exceptional indeed, as the molten, impossibly stretchy cheese is flavoured with the deep sapidity of the miso. The normally mild flavoured burrata is transformed into a creamy, rich and umami flavour bomb, which is so supremely savoury it fulfils a primal need. The chive oil perfumes the burrata with an intoxicating herby aroma, and adds complexity to the cheese with its herbaceous properties. Even the Crystal Bread provided to complement the burrata was perfect. A crusty exterior conceals a slightly crisp interior, and these bread slices hold up very well to the luscious wetness of the burrata. The Aburi Burrata was perfect. Perfect. Everything. Down to the last minute details.β
Thanks for hosting us @antidotebar.sg, and thanks for letting me tag along @wobblethebui!
The paired Italian inspired cocktail, interestingly named as What Do You Want!? (insert aggressive Italian hand gestures here), was purely second fiddle to the astounding Aburi Burrata. It is a very capable cocktail in its own right, with DiplomΓ‘tico Planas rum mixed with milk washed elderflower suze, pear cordial, orange blossom water & sparkling sakura aromatised wine all mixed in a-la science lab style. The floral notes of the elderflower & sakura aromatised wine made for a pleasant perfume, while the citrus zest of the orange blossom water cleared your palate of the ravishing richness of the breathtaking burrata. Definitely a cocktail to complement the burrata, but some of its merits were certainly overshadowed by the awesome Aburi Burrata.β
β
Thanks for hosting us @antidotebar.sg, and thanks for letting me tag along @wobblethebui!
As for the food pairing, the recommended Smoked Flamingo Tea Hamachi ($24++) was a memorable clash of contrasts. The Hamachi (yellowtail) is smoked for a deeply umami aroma & flavour, which is fully fleshed out by the little dollop of Kristal Caviar, and the savouriness was contrasted by the refreshing zestiness of the yuzu ponzu. The soft textures of the chopped sashimi were countered by the crunch of potato nest lattice, which does provide more satisfaction by way of the starch.β
β
Thanks for inviting me @wobblethebui, and thanks for the hospitality @antidotebar.sg!
Next up on @antidotebar.sg Cure:All cocktail menu is something a little closer to home, the Pandan Everywhere ($25++), inspired by head mixologist @chin_kingston home nation of Malaysia. Even though it is a cocktail with Remy Martin cognac as the foundational spirit, it smells & tastes a lot more like a dessert. And thatβs a good thing, but a dangerous one, as this enthrallingly easy to drink cocktail cloaks its punch behind the sublime sweetness & aromas.β
β
The cognac is well blended with pandan coconut fat washed Bacardi, which gives this cocktail a rich & silky body, and gula melaka which supplies most of the sweetness, and clarified milk tea which adds weight & substance to the body of the drink. It starts off reminding you of chendol at first due to all the above mentioned components, but the rose water air does give you pause as it makes you think of bandung. However, this delicious cocktail all comes together to make me think that Iβll be getting a second one.
β
Anti:dote cocktails truly are the cure for a hard dayβs work, and the Cure:All curation is the cure for all your work related ailments. Thanks for inviting me @wobblethebui, and thanks for the hospitality @antidotebar.sg!
The recommended food pairing for the Ancient Love Affair was the Hokkaido Scallop Dumpling ($24++), which has chopped scallops wrapped up into a delicate little dumpling and garnished with Kristal caviar & tom yum crisp. The delicate dumplings are slightly sweet & briny from the scallops, before the caviar pops off with its highly prized briny sapidity. Take a bite into the branch shaped tom yum crisp mid chew, and experience how the dumplings transform from a delicately sweet & salty affair into a riot of sour, spicy and sensationally savoury. Absolute genius from the chef here, and I found myself contemplating seconds.β
β
Thanks for the jio @wobblethebui and thanks for having us, @antidotebar.sg!
When it comes to hard liquor, Iβve always had βem straight. Iβve never really fancied cocktails until I stumbled into @antidotebar.sg one evening, and Iβve found the cure for my cocktail apathy. While anti:dote does serve the classic cocktails like boulevardiers, martinis & margaritas, their Cure:All cocktail selection is far more intriguing and delicious.β
β
Every one of the nine cocktails on the Cure:All selection has a recommended food pairing, and we started the night off right with Ancient Love Affair ($25++), inspired by romance tales from China a Long Long Time Ago. This is an fabulously floral cocktail and I love it, as it just smells so incredibly inviting. Baijiu that has been infused with dates is mixed with Monkey 47 Sloe Gin, Rosella Kombucha, aromatised wine, a special housemade cordial, and aromas of lavender & assorted flora in the smoke.β
β
The sour plum characteristics of the baijiu are seated comfortably in the backseat while the sweetness of the dates & aromatised wine take turns driving this cocktail with the rosella kombucha. Props are in order for @chin_kingston & his team as they managed to temper the ordinarily overpowering taste of the rosella and balance it out with the baijiu, gin, and wine. The fizz of the kombucha makes this charming cocktail ravishingly refreshing, and I couldnβt help but gulp it all down in short order.β
β

Throwback to the time when we headed down to Anti:dote for the βAfternoon Indulgence Around the Worldβ afternoon tea set ($58 per pax).
We started off with Madagascan Vanilla Scones that are served with lemon butter curd, Devonshire clotted cream and strawberry marmalade. The scones were excellent - they are soft, fluffy and warm.
There is a wide array of savoury bites that are inspired by different countries, namely the Miso, Tuna and Bonito Flakes Tart (Japan), Beef Bulgogi, Leek and Kimchi Mayonnaise Sandwich (Korea), Chili Crab and Tobiko Mantou (Singapore), Confit de Canard Baguette (France) and Parmigiana, Parmesan and Tomato Tart (Italy). Although I wish the savoury bites are served warm (they were a little cold), surprisingly it did not affect how tasty they are and I enjoyed them. For me, the savoury items outshone the sweet items for this set.
The sweet treats are also inspired by different countries, such as Chendol Jelly and Gula Melaka in Coconut Shell (Malaysia), Ispahan Macarons with Lychee Marmalade and Rose Raspberry (France), Tiramisu in Chocolate Cup (Italy) and Lamington with Brown Sugar Sponge and Black Tea (Australia). I found the desserts a little too sweet for my liking and while they are generally decent, there isnβt one that I particularly fancy.
Nonetheless, the ambience is great and I spent a wonderful afternoon catching up with my friends over sweet and savoury treats and despite skipping lunch, we were filled to our brim by the end of our afternoon tea. Talk about indulgence!
