umbled upon this humble ice cream shop Apiary. It's usually really crowded and the queue is super long(about 1hr30min wait) from 7pm onwards so I don't want to queue. However, I was nearby in the afternoon and decided to give it go!

Its cosy ambience makes me want to stay immediately. I ordered a charcoal waffle (6.50) and 2 scoops of ice cream, hojicha and apiary.
The waffle is really flavourful and is of a decent size. However, its a bit dense compared to other ice cream cafes.

The hojicha flavour was really good. The creamy texture of the ice cream and strong tea flavour really complements each other. However this is on the exp side of $6 a scoop being ultra premium flavour.

The Apiary flavour was good as well! Not being to sweet and mixed with hazelnuts just makes you want to eat on more! ($4.80)
Overall this place is worth coming back again. Just try to avoid the long queues at peak periods!

Dark chocolate, blue milk, apiary, ferrero rocher.

Favourite was dark chocolate. The rest were too sweet for me. I used to like blue milk but I find it too sweet and not salty at all today.

Average tasting ice cream. Unlikely to return.

Apiary (noun): a place where bees are kept — so you can be sure I had an extremely sweet time there! Especially after dinner, it's a great place to chill with some lovely dessert, a relaxed atmosphere and friendly, responsible staff.

I really loved their charcoal waffle, which was chewy on the inside, crispy on the outside and not overly dense. Apart from a lightly smoky, earthy flavour, the charcoal waffle is mostly #forthegram for a slight 50 cents top-up from their regular waffles. I loved their Caramelised Strawberry, which was creamy and smooth with a generous serving of real strawberry bits. The intensity of the strawberry flavour was just spot-on, without being too subtle nor overwhelmingly sweet.

We also decided to go for their Apiary since it's named after the cafe (or the other way around??) — it's honey-infused ice cream with cacao nibs. I felt this was a pretty unique option and enjoyed how the cacao nibs gave a new element of texture to each bite, and appreciated the strong honey taste.

This place is perpetually crowded especially during Fridays and weekends.

Tried their premium flavours - apiary and pistachio.

Apiary was a honey flavour with cacao nibs. It was pretty light on the palette, similar to the white chrysanthemum from BOP.

Pistachio was more robust in flavour and I loved the nuttiness of it.

So apiary is always the place I go to whenever i eat dinner in Tanjong Pagar bc it’s one of the more famous ice cream and waffle places in that area haha. But tbh it’s alright!! Tastes like any other ice cream n waffles uh or maybe it’s just me but as long as it’s cold n sweet it’s g so I don’t rly compare so much plus I don’t rly have a v sweet tooth 🤭

After reading reviews on Burpple, I've decided to give Apiary a try. I mean since they've been really popular and there wasn't any queue when I went.

I've had the Bailey's & Brownies & Blue Milk (best seller) ice cream paired with charcoal waffles. The Bailey's and Brownies ice cream I would say is just right not too gelat not too alcohol-y. My friend enjoyed it comparing to other stores which were quite heavy on the Bailey's. Great touch with Brownies btw. The Blue milk on the other hand was fantastic at our first few bites but after awhile it became quite boring/should I say slightly gelat. Pairing them with the charcoal waffles was abit of a wrong choice I would say. Though they were crispy and fluffy on the inside.

Don't get me wrong their ice cream & waffles on its own is decently nice. But pairing it up kinda messes up the taste bud. When you pair it with the ice cream to have it together. You lose the ice cream taste as the waffle overpowers the whole waffle-icecream combi.

It might just be their charcoal waffle mixture today that was on the MORE savory side or maybe it has always been. All in all, I wouldn't come back but it was a great taste bud experience and I finally get to say I've tried Apiary.
