Hictory BBQ Chicken ($10.90) consisted of two side dishes (fried fries + baked potato). I realised that chicken size was too small but the hictory sauce was quite thick. Its quite affordable for western food.

Their cream of mushroom soup is reeeally creamy. I liked that there were lots of fresh, tender mushroom bits in the soup, and that it came with a slice of garlic bread on the side. Nice way to start the meal, but if you're not a fan of cream and like your mushroom soup very mushroomy, then this may not be for you.

After writing up on lesser-known upscaled, “mid-scaled”, midtown, uptown funk gon’ give it to you (???) joints for a while, there was one place that I’ve always wanted to talk about and promote simple because of how accessible and amazingly delicious their dishes still remain to be. The Astons name is of course, no stranger to Singapore’s bustling chain restaurant scene. From its humble beginnings in 2005 as a western hawker stall helmed by the very man himself, Aston Soon, to a global empire with 11 brands and 35 outlets worldwide. Of course, with a business as expansive as that, it comes as no surprise that delicious food and good quality can be expected when dining at any Aston’s outlet. With a vast menu including most recognisable western favourites such as Pork Chops ($12.90) and Surf & Turf ($21.90), the food at Aston’s is affordable and positively consistent. Their Chargrilled Chicken ($10.90) is one simply delicious blueprint for their Grillworks Chicken menu, featuring succulent and juicy chicken with crispy skin. My personal favourite at Aston’s is their Fiery Chicken ($10.90), a spicy take on their Chargrilled Chicken that promises nothing less than a savoury, spicy chicken packed with flavour. Served with two complimentary sides from their menu, the Fiery Chicken stands as my favourite chicken dish in Singapore that I’ve come to have by the dozens.


Couldn’t decide which to have. So, thank goodness for having a fellow steak-lover friend with me, we decided to try all 3 - Wagyu, Ribeye, and Sirloin.

I like the Wagyu. However, the ribeye was rather lean, and the sirloin was rather disappointing in my opinion.

Average western food at a very affordable price! Value for money but honestly not very value for the tummy.

Surprisingly it turned out much better than I had expected, with the chicken cutlet deep fried to an ideal crisp and panko-crusted exterior, with a tender, succulent interior of juicy chicken thigh meat. Believe it or not it’s actually my 2nd time dining at Astons and each time I m always ordering their seasonal special menu. The Swiss racelette cheese comes with an acute, tangy cheesy flavour that might not be suited for the faint-hearted, with a thick, chewy and gooey texture. The crispy chicken cutlet was pretty good on its own without the need for any additional condiments. As for the sides, I chose mashed potatoes and garden veggies which comprises of broccoli and carrots. The mash potatoes is topped with a thick brown gravy, a smooth and creamy texture with a lingering buttery fragrance. On the other hand, the garden veggies tasted pretty bland and raw, but provided a great counter balance to the other sinful elements.
