It is almost like a cultural exchange that you cannot learn in schools whereby we can freely share our best eats, enjoy the food that’s right in front us and just talk the night away. The dining table is truly what brings people together and this is no exception.

I come to know of Cecilia and Nelson after watching their videos on their YouTube channel, 聪生家SG Chengdu Family (do give them a like and subscribe if you haven’t!) and their food adventures around Singapore are filled with authenticity and honesty. Our first meeting was coincidentally, a restaurant that they featured for the 酸菜鱼, and we left the ordering to their good hands, which we subsequently experienced a taste of Sichuan cuisine unlike no other. Prior to this, our usual orders revolved around 辣子鸡, 手撕泡菜 and 烤鱼, but this time round, we had items that we would not have normally ordered or tried before such as the 夫妻肺片, 凉粉 and 青椒鱼. Every dish hits the spot so damn well that we have to return again soon.

one of the best renditions of grilled fishes SG; legit ma to the la's! you know you're tasting authentic food menus when the restaurant serves a majority of locals from where the cuisine originated - this is so for Ba Shu!

their La Zi Ji is the BOMB & definitely a must-try (unique taste that i'd return for)!

Never thought black fungus would taste this good as a cold appetizer and was pleasantly surprised at this! Was mildly spicy, garlicky and sour from the vinegar.

Always a delight when ordering this seafood platter ($108++). Comes with crab, abalone, clams, scallops, squid, tofu, vermicelli, corn and wintermelon. Broth is a garlicky soup that complements the seafood.

Ok we ordered the grilled fish for 2 pax and thought it wasn’t enough but it was actually. But this was a good “side dish” that was delicious too!

Handmade dumplings with pork and chives (10 pcs). Skin was of a right thickness and meat was tasty.

Love it with their “Lao gan ma” similar chilli oil sauce which wasn’t so spicy but went well with the dumplings.

You can also get them for takeaway at $7 for 10.

Fish alone is $32++ with different prices for their add ons which are generally $3.80. We added the potato noodles (highly recommended), lotus root and black fungus! Probably don’t need to top up lettuce as it comes with some lettuce and beansprouts already.

Haven’t tried Tan Yu as they have really long queues but this is a good one as it’s near my house!

Soup isn’t spicy but quite numbing although the numbness is temporary. It’s addictive and I almost wanted to drink the soup if not for the chilli oil.

Fish was fresh and tender, skin was crispy and so good. Definitely a good place to cure your Mala craving!
