Introduced by a friend who works in the Changi Business Park area, this "Assam Garam Fish" bento lunch box is a compact triple power of wallet-friendliness, Nyonya cooking and healthy goodness. I chose it from their lunch bento menu (that included vegetarian options as well). The pieces of fish in my "Assam Garam" gravy were soft and seem similar to the kind you get at fried fish soup stalls. While tasty, I would say the spicy-sour gravy cannot beat my mum's one :) Regardless, I cleaned up all of it in no time. Providing an interesting twist were the healthier accompaniments of brown rice and chilled tofu slices. As a set, this $9.90 bento is pretty novel.

assam fish, buah keluak, otah, chap chye, omelette, sambal kangKong, lady fingers, eggplant. nomz for 2.

After a hearty and satisfying Peranakan meal, the owner Philip made sure we stayed for some free desserts :) The perfect black and white combo of Pulot Hitam and Gandum (interesting with a light sprinkle of salt on top), yummy tummy.

Granted I work in the area and it makes perfect sense for us to be there (again), but some places are just a pleasure to revisit :) Simple, affordable lunch bentos - appetising, yummy and well-portioned. Not to mention the owner Philip is always warm, chatty and welcoming. They serve a la carte Peranakan dishes too.

Lunch near Changi Expo. Yummy Peranakan lunch and a good value-for-money :)

food served here was authentic, tasty and gives you a sense of home. the owner even filled us in with peranankan heritage. peranankan really takes a lot of time and effort to make so its definitely more costly than other cuisines.
