The moon cake business is big within the Singaporean Chinese, all Chinese owned companies gift their clients with moon cakes. The flavours have diversified over the years from the traditional plain lotus paste with egg yolks to a multitude of modern flavours. This beauty is called ‘Flaming Emerald’, with red rice yeast butter skin, cane sugar free pandan flavoured (my phone autocorrected to panda 🐼 flavoured and I almost didn’t notice 🤣) lotus paste with whole pumpkin seeds and a pumpkin paste centre. This is marketed as a “healthy” moon cake, these days even moon cake brands are getting in to the low sugar, healthier options.
