Most memorable moment of the trip was probably here at Bakery & Table in Hakone. Oh my goodness where do I even start?! 😍 With the relaxing cool breeze against our faces and our aching feet soaked in the cafe's onsen foot bath, munched on probably one of the best Japanese curry breads ever while facing an amazing view of Lake Ashi. We were lucky to get our bread hot, with that mild spicy curry and lots of creamy egg yolk (and a whole egg!) all encased within a semi-fried bread that was covered in fried rice krispies. Albeit its price tag among the rest in the display, I’ll go for this again and again!

This bakery is definitely a must-try in Hakone! Twice I've been here and they always have new fresh bakes. Go for the ones that are fresh out of the oven. Previously I had the red bean paste bun but this time round it wasn't as fantastic cos it was cold.

This curry egg bun came piping hot, fluffy with crisp crunch of Rice Krispies, encasing Japanese curry with egg within. Loved the different textures you can get in one mouthful, and the bun held really well - didn't even become soggy. Probably (almost) makes for a meal because this was exactly what we had for lunch. Even @cweizhi who usually don't like jap curry gave in and got one for herself! 😂

If you've got the time, hang out at the granite tables right outside the bakery for the gorgeous lake view, watch the world roll by and get a free foot-bath in the hot spring water before embarking on more walks! Your feet will thank you.

This Anpan bread (¥180) looked like it was nothing impressive, sitting on the display counter, wondered why it was hot in the bag, but daaaaaaayum I was taken by surprise on the first bite! Didn't expect how pillowy soft and fluffy it would be, yet toasted till lightly crisp with a crazy generous filling of red bean paste with bits of azuki for texture - absolutely comforting to have while embarking on long walks in this beautiful town. This bakery has a lovely view of Lake Ashi so it's a good place to have tea break, take a breather, people-watch.
