[CLOSED] Amoy Ban Mian & Fish Soups (Amoy Street Food Centre)

They only sell the soup version and not banmiangan! But I found this quite satisfying because the noodles, although slightly thinner than many banmians (in terms of thickness, not the breadth), was kinda springy like a tagliatelle and I dig that. Just that it got a bit soft towards the end of the meal. Soup is similar to that of the meehoonkueh soup which I’ve previously reviewed.

If you’re the kind that likes banmian that is thicker and more al dente (like ubi dmq / L32) this is not for u! You’re better off with RH28 handmade noodles (also in amoy, and is my fav banmian/mhk shop in amoy) which is similarly springy but thicker.

Broth is rich (not the clear type), mhk is not hand torn but cut bc its even & uniform. Kinda like bossi ban mian at sgoon gardens. It’s slurpy and thin, q al dente and very smooth and slidey. They crack a raw egg into the bowl, so there’s a runny yolk! Veg here is spinach, but wasn’t a lot. The minced meat was alright but not particularly great. Ikan wasn't too salty. A good bowl of mhk, but those who prefer the chunkier kind would not prefer this!

The Ban Mian Fish Soup stall (#02-134) at Amoy Street Food Centre allows you to customise your fish soup from a selection of sliced fish, fried fish, salmon and even red grouper. I’m generally not a fan of fish soup, but the Double Fish Soup ($6, if upgrade to salmon) is not bad! The fried fish batter is crispy and not oily, the salmon is fresh and the soup is flavourful. The tangy chilli adds a kick to the comforting soup. Enjoyed this!
