This was sadly a pretty disappointing dish, as the fried chicken was served lukewarm. But that aside, I actually found the rice ultra fragrant of coconut milk and rather enjoyable with the zesty achar and sweet-spicy sambal. Would still recommend the prawn noodles over this, if you decide to dine at Bansan for local eats in a dressed up locale.
The menu at Bansan Bistro seems to skew towards Penang flavours, as we deduced from this prawn mee that’s named Hokkien Mee.
Broth’s sufficiently flavoured, with the prawn’s sweetness in play with heat from that dollop of saltish sambal. While definitely on the pricey side, the bowl of noodles is generously portioned and comes with about four sizeable and very tender pork ribs.
I do love nasi lemaks that give achar on the side, but this one is not very impressive, to me at least. But if you are looking for a safe option, go with this.
Bansan Bistro brings Penang favourites to KL city and this bowl of prawn mee is pretty legit. The broth has the lovely prawn stock taste and that sambal (don’t add too much!) adds nice layer of spiciness. It must be the braised pork ribs in the dish that contribute to the steep price, but hey, if you’re at Bangsar South, this wont disappoint.
