I once lived in KL. Their ban mian differs from Singapore’s, especially if you order the dry version. Theirs will come with Manis vegetables, fried chilli and sweet dark soy sauce.

I have to say this one comes very close to the ones I am used to in KL. For those who cannot take a lot of spice, just order the dry normal ban mian and not their signature Hot and Spicy Handmade Noodles, just add as much belachan chilli as you. All dry noodles come with a small bowl of clear soup which has a strong taste of sea clams. Nice.

I’ll be back whether I miss KL ban mian.

Ikan bilis was crisp and fragrant, it was my favourite component. Stewed mushrooms were not too salty, unlike some stalls that overdo it. The sauce had a black sauce sweetness and fragrance from the shallot oil, while the noodles were not mushy but also not q. Even though I did a takeaway, I had it within 5 mins so I don’t think that’s the reason for the noodles’ average texture.

Overall, decent enough for me to want to return to try their soup version.

Have been wanting to try this and it surely didn’t disappoint!!! :”) found a new fav banmian place! Love the spiciness with the fried ikan billis - And the QQ-ness of the noodles. There’s a fried taupok fishcake that’s extremely crispy. Owners are friendly too!

U Mian ($3.50) + Add-on (Poached Egg) ($0.50) is slightly different variations from usual ingredients such as Mani Leaf, Minced Braised Pork and Poached Egg. Their soup base use anchovies only that's why the soup quite clear and refreshing to drink. They have different variety of noodles (mee hoon kuek, ee mian, bee hoon and mee sua) but I seldom that seeing Ban Mian Store don't sell bee hoon and mee sua.

The plethora of ingredients caught my attention! Obviously not skimpy. The presence of garnishes - fried onions, ikan bilis, peanuts and chilli oil really introduces a myriad of textures. The noodles were also generously tossed with black sauce. The fried beancurd skin was super good and fragrant! But wished it was abit more crispy. Overall a satisfying meal and would gladly return to Queenstown for this frills-free and homely bowl of noodles!!!

Where do I start? I mean, since they specialise in ban mian, why not give it a try? The egg, though attractive, was fully cooked. Not to mention I paid to add it, which means their noodles don't come with egg. And chilli: there's no option to indicate chilli, so I wrote as a remark I wanted it spicy. What arrived was cut chilli padi. Wtf! To be fair, the rest was okay.
