Terrible service!

I queued for half an hour and repeated my orders a few times in case it gets wrong. I was told they were aware of my orders only to realise they got it wrong when I reached home. I went back to change my item on a hot day and was blamed by the boss telling me off for not ordering correctly the first time.

6/5 not recommending if you come try from somewhere far. Even if you queue for half an hour, boss never hear your order correctly can scold you. You ask which day they off, don't look at their noticeboard can scold you as well. Ask around the hawker to find out. Spare yourself from all these annoyance over a meal.

I also have no intend of coming back.

Decided to queue for this stall because all other stalls that I wanted to try are closed on Tuesdays. I am pleasantly surprised by how gooood this bowl of fish soup is and yet didn’t hear much about this stall when reading through “best food in whampoa” or “best fish soup in Singapore” articles. The white beehoon itself is very smooth and a tiny bit smaller than the usual ones, but of course, the star has to be the fish. We both prefer the fried fish— fried till crispy outside yet the meat is tender (and not mushy). The white fish is nothing special but still enjoyable. Added milk to the soup to get a more creamy taste profile and I’m so happy that the milk doesn’t overpower the original soup flavour. This is one of the best fish soup I’ve tried because each component is done well. What a hidden gem!

Super long queue but super worth the wait!! Testament to the worthiness of the food is the .. queue! Most ordered the white beehoon and fried fish. I decided to go for the claypot noodles instead - was in the mood for salty that day! It does overpower the light, refreshing and milky taste of the soup tho. So select your noodles wisely!

The fried fish remained crispy despite sitting in the soup for a while. The lightly battered fish was flaky, and tender on the inside.

Always a long queue, a sometimes good sign of good food (though not always true). This fish head bee hoon serves both sliced and fried versions though it seems that their fried version is their signature. Ordering both, we prefer the latter. The sliced ones while good, were a bit blah. On the other hand, the fried ones were meaty and the batter nicely coated the fish which made it even more savory. The soup base was flavorful and shaoxing wine is also added to it. Overall, a very satisfying bowl of fried fish bee hoon.

Price: $4.50

There was already a long queue when we arrived at 11.15am. Finally placed our order half an hour later, hoping it's worth the wait. Ordered the Sliced Fish Bee Hoon Soup (without milk), Yuan Yang Fish Soup (without milk) and Tom Yam Sliced Fish Soup @ $14.50. Standard fish soup (with/without noodles) is $4.50 each.

Visually the bowls look pretty appetizing and the tom yam looks really tomyam-y. Tom yam was kinda too sour on the first sip of the soup but I guess the taste bud would just get used to it. The plain soup tasted sweet - but we just couldn't figure out how and where the unnatural sweetness came from. Not even my foodie mum could say what it was. If you ask me, it's not really worth the wait. But try it for yourself since it is always attracting a long queue!
