This sweet little thing on Bearded Bellaโ€™s menu caught our eye for firstly its fanciful name, Pain Perdu (aka fancy af French toast), and secondly a pink guava compote in a French toast. The pan-fried Brioche was fluffy, and drenched with much maple syrup. However, we struggled to detect any pink guava notes, but instead I found it more like a pink grapefruit. Additionally, it was a pretty thin layer of compote that was probably overshadowed by the sticky sweet maple syrup. Served along with a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream, fresh fruits and cardamom that was unfortunately undetectable as well.

really nice and simple cafe at Tanjong Pagar that really impressed us with their food! I decided on the spiced scramble($18). It was served with turmeric scramble, truffle, crispy kale and mushroom medley on a thick, soft sourdough bread. This dish was hearty with a creamy, slightly spiced scramble. The truffle was fragrant and helped to elevate a simple scramble. The mushroom medley was a mix of shiitake, enoki and Shimeji mushrooms. The mushrooms were crunchy and well seasoned! I really loved the crispy kale๐Ÿ˜ it was a healthy addition to the dish but it was so crispy itโ€™s like eating kale chips! My friend ordered the brie mine ($24) which was a burger with pork and beef homemade patty, bandied cherries and Brie cheese. She really really enjoyed this burger!! They gave a thick slice of Brie then was charred to give it that softness in the centre.

Warm butterscotch poured over the cold vanilla ice cream that melted over the date pudding was extremely delightful. The amalgamate of sweet, cold and salty with the occasional crunch of walnuts brought a different dimension to every bite you took. Will definitely comeback for more.

One word: Overwhelming. Thatโ€™s exactly what I felt about the ๐™‹๐™–๐™ฃ๐™˜๐™–๐™ ๐™š. ๐˜ฝ๐™–๐™˜๐™ค๐™ฃ. ๐™๐™ก๐™ž๐™œ๐™๐™ฉ. ๐™ˆ๐™–๐™œ๐™ž๐™˜. (~$23)

I do love me a good sweet and savoury balance, but here itโ€™s confusing, extra, even. Maple infused pancakes were dense and sweet, and it paired awkwardly with the onion jam and barbecued butter. ๐Ÿฅž

Dangling aesthetically from a pole (?) were three types of bacon: paprika, bacon back and maple glazed. I wasnโ€™t a fan of the paprika one especially, since it clashes the already messy flavours even more.๐Ÿฅ“

The components are good, but ON THEIR OWN. The pancakes wouldโ€™ve been good with ice cream and butter, the bacon wouldโ€™ve been good with fluffy hotcakes. Throw them together and itโ€™s a recipe for tastebud disaster. โ˜น๏ธ

beautifully crafted menu, disappointing foods.
Beef was too chewy
Sourdough was plasticky
Hummus tasted nice but overly oily
Good thing their Coffee saved the day.
Would be here only for coffee.

Sausage was a little bit too salty for me. Love the beet root.

Their carrotcake is super sweet but nice tho๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿผ
