A quintessential breakfast or snack that can be found at our local hawkers would be chwee kueh. These little rice cakes are soft, light and somewhat pillow-y & is usually tasteless. However, with the addition of the savoury & oily chai poh (salted preserved vegetables) & a spoonful of chilli on the side, the dish is elevated. There's no replacement for Chwee kueh as it's second to none.

Have been having this chee kueh since I was young.

Quite popular, and their cai po is very good.

Their chee kueh is quite big size as compared to jian bo shui kueh.

$2 for 4 pieces

One of the simplest local dish ard. Steamed rice cakes w chai por and some chilli. Somehow some people get it right and some people get it wrong. I love how the chai por isn't overly oily! It goes v well w the soft melt in your mouth rice cakes!
