The botanical gin is light and clean with notes of cucumber, grapefruit peel, rosehip and lemon myrtle.

Overall, it's a refreshing gin that is perfect for a nights out with friends or loved ones

Easy-drinking is the name of the game here. A delicate concoction of butterfly pea infused gin, coconut water and lavender syrup is a refreshing tipple that’s a welcome alternative to some of the more heavily spiced cocktails at BeGin.

This proved to be the perfect accompaniment to BeGin’s spice-infused cocktails – bite-sized morsels of plump prawns slathered in a buttery curry sauce, sat conveniently on a crisp pappadum, ready to be easily popped into your mouth.

You wouldn't expect it, but walk up the stairs inside of iconic British pub Penny Black and you'll find yourself in a wholly different world. BeGIN is the latest speakeasy-style bar to hit town, featuring a very chic industrial interior, neon lights and a gin-focused drinks menu.

Matcha lovers might probably dig the Yukie - a citrusy gin cocktail that's full-on with matcha flavour and finished with creamy egg white foam as well as a dusting of matcha powder over half the glass. I found it too sweet and at odds with the British Indian small plates served there.

Pani-puri filled with a crab curry that tasted rather muddled. The pani-puri was thicker than usual so as to be able to hold in the curry without breaking apart.

We adored the buttery, flaky pastry shell, but the filling of sauteed meat and Tandoori masala curry sauce tasted like the spices needed more cooking down. A little tweaking and I can see this easily being a hot favourite.
