Cold zaru soba and some tempura atop of rice at the side. This is around $13 and the portion is so big! It is so worth it! The seats are Japanese style where it is mostly counter seat and you eat around the cook counter. The cook is Japanese, therefore the way the dish is cooked is really Japanese style.
And not sure if it was just us overthinking things but the shape of the tray is very unique and considerate. The flat one is the one that faces that junction between the table and the wall and the curved one is towards us.
Was so tempted to enter Ryoshi Sushi but the relatively big menu of soba dishes here looked good. Went with this set of hot soba (you can also request for cold) along with a side of fried chicken. It was very worth it for its nett price and each order even comes with a cup of hot green tea! Soba was done well and springy, though I’d like it just a teeny bit more firm. While I expected the broth to be much lighter based on looks, it was surprisingly flavourful. Fried chicken chunks were great too, they were crunchy, seasoned nicely and had a clean non-greasy finish!

Randomly settled for dinner here since it seems like a pretty decent eat for $9.80. Prepared only upon order, there is some waiting time involved for this item but it’s certainly something I would not mind about — the chunks of Japanese fried chicken comes piping hot above short-grain rice whilst accompanied with a soft-boiled egg; the chicken being juicy, tender and amazingly crisp while sized pretty generously. Coming with a dip on the side, the dip carries a slight vinegary flavour to cut through the heaviness of the fried item. While the rice is pretty fluffy, the only qualm was with the egg; prepared early in advance and stockpiled, the hardboiled egg was served cold in retrospect to the warm dish — a particularly odd temperature contrast. At $9.80 nett, it comes with Miso soup, Japanese pickles and even hot tea; pretty value for money and a good eat if around Liang Court or in Meidi-Ya.
The bowl consists of 3 prawns, 1 brinjal, 1 sweet potato, 1 mushroom. Everything is freshly fried and stays crispy till the last bite. Amount of sauce and rice was just right too. For 11.80, it comes with tea and soup. #damnworthit #maituliao
Tenzaru Soba ($14.80)
If you are at Liang Court and wanting a quick fix to satiate your soba craving, Bentoss Hokkaido Restaurant tucked away at basement 1 just outside the supermarket serves up decent quality hearty meals. The tempura seafood serving was generous and fried upon order.
