chanced upon this coffeeshop next to Beo market. their small portion certainly isnt small. I could barely finish this for breakfast. theres an option of curry or clear gooey sauce and I went for the latter. its not super flavourful, but the star has got to be those supee crispy air fried tofu strips - its even layered much like a crepe cake for added texture.

Said to be whipped up by an ex Din Tai Fung chef, Chef Wang's creations feature a white fried rice with a chopped up crispy cutlet on top. I quite liked the pork but felt that the rice really lacked flavour! I tried adding their fried dried chili in but even the chili wasn't salty.

With an upgrade of both duck and chicken, the bill came up to more than the average hawker lunch but was worth it if you're feeling high SES that day. The meats were all very tender and the rice full of smokey, crusty bits.

I wasn't hungry so I got a small-sized portion. It was still reasonable for the price. Yes it wasn't a lot of meat but boy was the sauce flavourful! The kuay teow was also so soft that I slurped every strand down.

Equally homely-feeling, you should also give the Gu Fa steamed sliced fish a shot. Priced affordably at $6 which can be shared between 2, the fresh fish slices were firm and served along crunchy black fungus. The savory light soya sauce dressing was very much signature of a Cantonese steamed dish. It’s a cheap and good dish, given the generous portion and freshness of the fish slices.

Imagine having such piping hot claypot rice on a wet rainy day like today. 🀀 The boyf introduced to me 廣東香港味道 at Beo Crescent Market & Food Centre, which is usually a day market, that specializes in claypot rice, steamed rice and stewed soups. Be prepared to wait for at least 15 minutes.

Consisting of tender, well-marinated chicken chunks, the lip-smacking dish also had chinese sausage, bacon and salted fish. The best part? Scrape through to the bottom to reveal those crispy burnt rice grains.
