Birds of Paradise, a boujie gelato boutique located in the East Coast, is a popular local favourite and always comes up in conversations about ๐Ÿฆ!

Today, during an afternoon drive, we shortlisted our flavours and decided to try it out!!! Knowing my luck, it started POURING, and by pouring, I mean it felt like someone was LITERALLY floating above my head and throwing buckets of water on me.

Lychee & Raspberry
Light pink, floral, and fruity! This flavour is really refreshing and tastes like summer! However, it took me a while to get the lychee flavour, but the traces raspberry was very strong.

Spiced Pear ๐Ÿ
What? Wow! Omg, this one was a clear winner. The strongest flavour of the three I tried. The fresh flavour of the fruit paired with the spice complimented each other perfectly. The tiny chunks of pear added a tiny crunch!

White Chrysanthemum
Not too sure what I was expecting when I ordered this BEST SELLER flavour, but I do not regret it AT ALL. Every bite tasted like I was eating a flower field, it was delicate and sweet. I loved the tiny cocoa nibs that remained crunchy even as the gelato melted towards the end.

Thyme Waffle Cone
The sprigs of thyme folded into the batter is one of the most unusual, but creative twists to waffle cones. I loved how it complimented every flavour and toned down the sweetness. The best part was that it remained crunchy!

Overall, I thought the flavours were really subtle. Which in some ways is good because the scoops are really generous and you can enjoy the mild flavour over a longer period of time.
The scoops were REALLY big, omg what, Iโ€™m a slow ice cream/gelato eater so it took a while and started melting hahaha oops.

๐ŸŒฑ: I really appreciated that the spoon and cup were biodegradable. This sustainable touch made me feel better about settling for a cup!

๐Ÿ’ธ: Single Cup = $5, Double Cone = $9

โš ๏ธ: Located on East Coast road so itโ€™s quite hard to access with a car. $$$ (but the scoops are quite big).

โœจ: 4/5

Memory/highlight: great range of flavours, you are spoilt for choice!

We tried black sesame and uji matcha flavours!! Both were so good. The cone had very rich flavour too!! Will recommend going for the cone. There are no seating areas inside so a lot of people are hovering around the shop eating the ice cream ๐Ÿคฃ so it's very easy to spot the shop

CHERRY ๐Ÿ’ BASIL tastes somewhat like a milder version of their signature strawberry Basil. The Basil ๐ŸŒฟ whiff was strong, the Cherry taste was pretty mild. (The strawberry ๐Ÿ“ flavour has a more pronounced strawberry taste!)

SPICED PEAR ๐Ÿ consists of a blend of cloves, cinnamon, anise etc. Somewhat Christmas-y! I could taste really teeny pear bits too!

Of course, both scoops in a thyme cone.
The B.O.P experience is never complete without the cone!!

This flavour was not too bad, tasted mostly of sweet pear with very slight accents of spice. The cone was also quite sweet and unfortunately we couldnโ€™t really taste the herbs in it. It was still a good and tasty cone though. Texture of the gelato was great, really creamy.

Worth a try if you like pear :) donโ€™t expect too much of spice though, it was quite subtle. If not they have many other interesting flavours as well!

We visited on a Sunday afternoon and there wasnโ€™t a queue at all. Do note that there isnโ€™t any seating area in the boutique.

So glad to have walked past them on a PH (Monday) and saw them open! Got my hands on their new flavour: Spiced Pear. This is easily my new favourite now, besides the white chrysanthemum flavour. The spices are evident yet smooth. The Lychee Raspberry is a safe choice, which le bf finds kinda boring compared to the spiced pear. Guess we know which flavour to stick with next!

Lychee raspberry was refreshing, chocolate sorbet was pure bittersweet decadence. The earl grey waffle cone was delicious but quite disappointed that the choc sorbet was melting through the cone in less than 10mins โ˜น๏ธ
