Pretty worth it weekday set lunch ($1 top up for chawanmushi). We ordered the beef stew and wagyu rice set which came with a drink (hot or cold green tea) and ice cream (flavours: chocolate, strawberry, lychee, etc). The chawanmushi has a smooth texture but was a bit salty. Beef stew was tasty but we hoped for more gravy. Beef wagyu rice set was pretty good (though also a bit salty), but the onsen egg complimented the dish perfectly.

Splurged on the 220g Wagyu Ribeye ($48.90), which came with 2 sides - there's a list to choose from. The meat was great! I was worried 220g would be too much cos of the fat in wagyu, but still managed to finish all of it! The wakame udon was not quite udon, more like lamian to me. Sauteed mushrooms were just okay.
We also got the Wagyu Bacon & Cheese Burger ($16.90), which was juicy and tender too.

Surprisingly inexpensive too - $24.90!
The one at the back was the ribeye. Nice enough but not quite for me.
The sides though - need so tweaks. But when you’re showcasing cuts of beef, I Guess you don’t really need anything to distract.

Ordered the wagyu Ribeye medium rare but it arrived medium-well as pictured. As with all steakhouses in Singapore they just can't get it right so I would recommend ordering rare if you want medium rare. At these prices I prefer Stirling Steak (in the East where I live), but since Bizen is near my office, I still visit for a fuss free steak. I am not convinced that it is really is wagyu but I think it's fair to say that it's some sort of Japanese beef, as the meat is fairly tender and umami compared to the usual hard and dry astons steak.

💡 : Be prepared for the typical Aston set up with the annoying and inefficient bottleneck at the entrance (order and pay first before getting seated) since NO ONE can decide on their order. This is one of those chains that would really benefit from a tablet order system so that indecisive customers can waste on their own time and not others.

Portion wasn’t huge but the Wagyu Ribeye steak ($44.90 for Standard 220g) we had was surprisingly good with just the right amount of fattiness, very tender yet still with a good bite, and grilled perfectly.

As with the usual Aston’s establishment, you get to pick two sides - which was a hit/miss. Didn’t fancy the potato salad (it could be just me cos I’ve never really liked them), but we definitely enjoyed the Sautéed Trio Mushrooms very much - juicy and flavourful, I will probably order both side dishes of mushrooms 😂

Chawanmushi ($2.80) was actually decent, smooth and tasty but skip the Sake steamed clams ($9.90). Portion was fine but there wasn’t that fragrance I was expecting, just plain garlicky.
