Classic Foie Gras Bifuteki Don (S$46++)
Japanese Wagyu beef steak and glazed foie gras on rice with onsen egg

Available during lunch at @blackcowsg in @southbeachavenuesg

Served with salad, a side of seasonal marinated vegetables, miso soup and dessert which was a scoop of ice cream with choices of yuzu, matcha or goma.

The thinly sliced meat was very flavourful on its own. Paired very well with the buttery foie gras.

This is phenomenal. But we already know this, because we know how particular is owner Sam Chua about the wagyu dons coming out from Shatoburian. Black Cow is no different.
The A5 wagyu in my bowl is juicy, yet it has the lovely flavours of beef. While some people found A5 wagyu to be too fatty and hence lacking in beef flavours, the wagyu in this bowl proved otherwise. It has the best of both worlds, and it's the kind of wagyu that you'll need to close your eyes to slowly savour.
Besides the A5 BMS 10 striploin steak cut wagyu and grade AAA Hokkaido steamed rice, this don has a 65 degrees sous vide onsen sashimi-grade egg hidden within, and is topped with generous amounts of fried golden enoki and winter Manjimup black truffles from Western Australia. This is the best time for truffles from Australia, because compared to summer truffles, these winter Manjimup truffles are stronger in aroma. I had them during a truffle event this time last year, and I've missed these truffles since.
In short, all the best ingredients you can find in a bowl, from the wagyu right down to the rice. Only the best.

Not worth the price paid. Onsen egg was not runny, and the beef slices were so thin.

If you thought rice bowls were too basic for special occasions or serious business lunches, think again. This small but stellar Beach Road restaurant dishes up a Signature Truffle Wagyu Don ($45) for lunch, and it's well-worth the steep price tag β€” we're talking thinly sliced tender beef topped with runny egg and shaved truffle. Yum! Foie gras fanatics should go for the Foie Gras Bifuteki Don ($45) that comes with creamy glazed foie gras and meaty wagyu steak chunks.

All the pricey goodness in a don. Portion was rather big you could share it with a friend.
Would I come back? Hmm probably not but just because their stuff are overpriced not because the food isn’t good

Quite an interesting take because you’re supposed to compress it into somewhat like an icecream sandwich. Matcha went well with the red bean and jelly πŸ‘πŸ»
