Rong Kee Roasted Delights' charsiew wanton noodles was my favourite food leading up to my exams HAHAHA ate it almost every lunch. I really like the charsiew??? The sweetness is just right and the sauce is also not salty hehe

Ben Kee Popiah from Teck Whye Lane Blk 143

πŸ‘πŸΌ PROS:
- affordably priced at $1.50 per roll
- each roll was brimming with ingredients, and they were really flavourful too! 😍
- the popiah skin was chewy, and was of the right thickness
- adequate amount of sweet sauce and chilli

πŸ‘ŽπŸΌ CONS:
- the turnip came in exceptionally huge chunks as they were not properly/consistently sliced
- the popiah skin failed to keep the ingredients in place as they started falling out the moment i tried to pick each piece up with my chopsticks. but then again, because of how fresh the ingredients tasted, I gladly scooped all of them up with a spoon and polished the plate clean anyway πŸ˜›

overall rating: 9.5/10!!!!
yay i’m so glad to have found yet another good popiah place in the west πŸŽ‰πŸ˜„πŸ’•

This Singaporean "winter" β˜ƒοΈπŸ‡ΈπŸ‡¬ (Yes it's true!!!), comfort is a pot of steaming hot claypot rice 🍚πŸ”₯, complete with smoky charred bits at the bottom. Super yummers paired with some Bak Kut Teh! 😍❀️❀️❀️

Just solving a random craving at Teck Whye β€” despite the stall preparing the Prata ahead of orders and piling them up in anticipation, the Prata still managed to remain relatively crisp and stretchy within. The mutton curry was thick in flavour with a little gaminess within; carried a light hint of spiciness which subtly bites only slightly afterwards. Decent at best.

seems zero talent seeing the unkempt auntie scooping up the oil, chili, dark soya into your bowl ungracefully. your plated bowl looks somewhat unpresentable and you question that bowl of nothingness except for the brown pinkish stained liquid. but hey, toss it, toss it till a black mess ensue and take in one mouth. now you know, is not talent therelackof, is not how pretty the outside looks but a sincere taste and the way of prawn noodles from this very unassuming stall that started since the 1940s.

sometimes good comfort food need not be too fanciful. don't need hot pink prawn soup, don't need to go heavy hand on pork lards, don't need monstrous prawns to dress the dish - just traditional decades long sincerity will do. just like this bowl.
