first mala post-CB!!!

was honestly ok only? can come if you’re around the area but don’t think it’s worth the trip down price was alright reasonable around $10 per pax!

What are your must-haves for Mala? It’s been more than 3 months since I last had this Mala Xiang Guo from Joyful Paradise, possibly one of the best finds in the West. Generally cheaper than average, and you get to enjoy a free-of-charge base. This stall is known for its extensive selection of fresh ingredients, but do also be cautious when selecting the level of spiciness as they are pretty generous with the dried chili and Sichuan peppercorns. That being said, I’ve heard from many who felt that they have calibrated the spiciness to locals’ preference, so you’ll be fine unless you decide to take a leap of spiciness to the highest.

Spinach soup was well seasoned yet not too salty. The green and fresh vegetables were well cleaned and washed as they do not have any traces of sand. They have many variations of spinach soup and one of it is the popular spinach with three eggs which you can find in many zi char stores.

Consist of fried chicken thigh, tofu, pork ribs and cereal fish fillet with a bow of porridge.
The chicken thigh was surprisingly well marinated but a little oily.
The rest of the dishes tasted normal from where you usually purchase your sides.

Ordered 5 dishes: Pork ribs, stir fry water spinach, egg omelette, honey chicken and tofu with minced meat. The only disappointing dish will be pork ribs. It was too salty. After taking the first bite, I wished there was a bowl of soup which I can use to “wash” the ribs with.

Particularly like their omelette as it tasted really sweet and was thick unlike other mixed vegetable rice stall.
Their broccoli, water spinach and tofu was nothing unusual just like other stalls.
