A protein-packed celebratory meal with 3 steak cuts, chicken and sausage in Argentinian flair. This massive platter which feeds easily 3-4pax was preluded by grilled cheese (provoleta, $19), bread and a trio of empanadas. Closing the feast we had the Black Forest brulee ($19) which was a beautiful composition of maraschino cherries, alcohol soaked cake bites and mascarpone. This is a great place to check out for a fancy date night or a celebratory meal. I suggest ordering individual steaks instead of the mammoth of a platter.

( INVITED TASTING )
Thanks to @bydanieleng, we got to check out the brand new Weekend Brunch at @bochinchesg on a Sunday.
You’ll be pleased to know they serve cocktails and wines but being a temporary teetotaller, I had a fresh juice instead - a lovely blend of pineapple, celery, orange, carrot and ginger ($9++).
While we perused the food menu, Head Chef @chef_fabi got us sorted with a quick snack of Chorizo Croquettes. It was one of the items delivered to me during Circuit Breaker and although it tasted nice back then, of course it was even better eaten piping hot.
Since @bochinchesg is an Argentinian restaurant well-known for their meats, my instinctive choice were the Brunch items featuring them. Once I learnt they make their own sausages in-house, it was a done deal that we had to get the “Huevo Rancheros” ($24++) and the “Gran Desayuno” ($42++).
The former featured lamb chorizo cut up into chunky pieces and laid on a very thin, crispy tortilla base spread with spiced yoghurt, and strewn with onions, piquillo peppers and fresh mint. Chef Fabi recommended it be eaten like a pizza, so it was bye-bye cutlery. We were very much taken with the punchy flavours of this, and I thought the lamb chorizo was well seasoned and not gamey at all.
As for the “Gran Desayuno” or “big breakfast”, it certainly lived up to its name. There were two eggs (cooked any way you prefer), Wagyu beef sausage, grilled portobello, bacon, tomatoes, polenta “hash browns” and sourdough. On the side, a refreshing Lime Sambal that added a welcome cut-through to the richness on the plate. This is a dish that’s sure to keep you full for the rest of the day.

For those who drive, you’ll be glad to know parking is a breeze as the CBD is much quieter during the weekend.

Nothing beats gobbling down Bunyols-de-vent (mini donuts) straight out of the fryer. Dusted in cinnamon and sugar, they are still sticky-soft within.
Unless you have a really sweet tooth, I would recommend going easy on the ice-cream and dip as they’re both made with Dulce de Leche and are decidedly sweet. The donuts are already very good on their own anyway.

BoCHINche, a modern Argentinian restaurant, is still doing delivery sending out food that's a blend of Mediterranean, European, and South American influences.

The highlight of my dinner was Argentinian Steak. Using only salt and beef fat, it is grilled over Jarrah wood and binchotan. I had mine cooked to medium rare, and it had a bouncy texture with clean, sweet beef juices.

Also on the menu pictured here is empanadas which comes in trio of Beef (hand cut beef, grilled peppers, onions & olives); Chicken (roasted chicken, peppers, grilled lemon & sage) and Sweet Corn (sweet corn, caramelized onions, basil & buffalo mozzarella); grilled chicken salad; and soft sugar-dusted Dulce de Leche Donuts.

300gms of steak at 65. Steak is Australian and very genuine. So worth the price.

Cooked perfectly at medium well, juicy and tender

Presentation and service was great. Staff was attentive.
