Mentaiko France ($2.40)
Double Cheese Pari Pari ($3)

The baguette was chewy and the mentaiko was so savoury & slightly spicy. Really liked this because most breads rarely have such a strong mentaiko taste.

The pari pari was a hard and crispyy flatbread with a strong cheese taste. Makes a great snack!!

Has a p strong milk powder flavour which wasn’t nice, texture was strange bc it was like bread but also spongy? Definitely will not get this again as we really did not like it.

Bun is very brown, has a roasty, almost burnt taste 😐. But it was kinda fluffy. Red bean is the nice japanese bakery kind, similar to pullman and gokoku - lightly sweet! But you’re better off at pullman / gokoku with more generous filling LOL

This was very fragrant, but it felt more oily than the gokoku one. Very similar in terms of taste, texture wise it was more dense and filled?? Like usually there's a hole in the middle and less bready. Not bad but I think I still prefer gokoku/sogood’s shiopan!

maybe i had too high expectations or because i kept it for two days before eating it but this didn’t live up to its hype for me. don’t get me wrong, it’s still a good matcha bun but i tried st leaven’s version before and that tasted better 😬

in comparison, donq’s matcha crumbles are sweeter whereas st leaven’s one was bittersweet which i prefer. however their choc taste is stronger while it’s pretty much non-existent in st leaven’s one so to each his own i guess!!!

no big difference in quality but between the two, if you ask me, i’d say get st leaven’s cos it’s always available + 20c cheaper 🤪

Most of you might have already seen this highly raved Uji Matcha Cream & Chocolate Bun (SGD3) many many times on IG, but here’s my review on it😉.

Queued and bought from @donq_depuis1905, a (not so new) Japanese🇯🇵 bakery located in the food hall of @takashimayasg B2, this viral matcha gem is hard to get your hands👐 on. Since they sell out really fast, you kinda need to be in the right place📍at the right time🕒 to nab yourself one or two. I guess Lady Luck🤞 was on our side that day since we only queued for about 10mins...

To get that luscious matcha🍵 lava when broken into, I’d recommend heating up the bun in an oven instead of microwaving for approx 8-10mins at 180°C. This way you will be able to achieve a crunchier😬 layer of cookie crumble on top.
